Microsoft has just released a slew of new apps for Android: MSN Health & Fitness, Food & Drink, News, Weather, Sports, and Money. Looks like the Redmond developers have been busy working on apps for a different platform it’s actually confusing. Not that there’s a law against who can and can’t make apps for Android but sometimes you’ll wonder why. But then again, Microsoft could just be very generous and kind that it’s bringing important programs to the mobile platform.

Let’s take a look at the new apps Microsoft made for Android…

MSN Health & Fitness

Use this app if you want to be healthier. Like most health apps, the MSN Health & Fitness app provides content and tools like symptom checker, run tracker, workout videos, nutritional and medical references, and exercise. App is easy to navigate: simply swipe left or right to view the next article.

Microsoft Food & Drinks

For those who like to cook, the Microsoft Food & Drinks Recipe app can be your new kitchen companion. Thousands of recipes from top chefs, restaurants, and home cooks from all over the world are available. The instructions are easy-to-follow and the photos are beautiful and appetizing enough you’d want to finish cooking and eat them right away. Also included are notes and tips from pros like Tom Colicchio, Joel Robuchon, Daniel Boulud, and Wolfgang Puck. For those who love to drink wine and cocktail, the app features a special guide. Also include are kitchen tips and more how-to videos.

Microsoft News

Following news and top stories are easier with the Microsoft News app. These are stories chosen by the editors and from the best sources in the industry (New York Times, Wall Street Journal, the Guardian, CNN, BBC, and Washington Post among others). You can also customize the topics that will show on your feed, add breaking news alerts, and sync topics across the web and mobile app so you can read the news anytime, anywhere.

MSN Weather – Forecast & Maps

Start and plan your day right by checking out the weather first using this new app. Check the forecast before you head out of the door. Take note of hourly forecasts, 5-day, and 10-day forecasts and see the sunrise, sunset, moon phase, and UV index. For a more detailed weather information, you can also check the barometer, dew point, chance of precipitation, humidity, wind, visibility. You can also track the weather in other cities and locations. Know in great detail more information like radar observation, temperature, cloud and satellite ma, precipitation, and radar forecast.

MSN Sports – Scores & Schedule

The app shows real-time game updates, schedules and standings, and the news from your favorite teams and leagues likfe NBA, NFL, NCAA, PGA, Formula 1, NASCAR, etc. If you can’t watch a game live at least you can receive the latest, scores, schedules, and standings. As with the News app, the MSN Sports app can show news from CBS Sports, USA Today Sports, ESPIN, and Fox Sports.

The MSN Money app makes money less complicated to understand. Read more financial news and data and learn how to grow your money with special financial tools and calculators.   1. Tried a few of them. Decent for a 1st attempt, especially with the MS Account integration. However, at the end of the day Weatherbug > MSN Weather, Google News & Weather > MSN News, theScore > MSN Sports.
