Messaging apps have long become more than just about sending messages to friends and loved ones. You have games, apps within the app, multi-media features, and most importantly for some, free calls (or at least low-cost calls). LINE is bringing a major update to its app, and that includes rebranding their Premium Call into LINE Out and making it easier for users to make calls, either free or not so free. And this update is coming to Android devices first!

LINE introduced Premium Call earlier this year to let LINE users in selected regions like Australia, India, Japan, Korea, Spain, the UK, and the US, to make low-cost calls to landlines and other people who may not be using the app. But now, it is called LINE Out and has been given a “major overhaul”. The LINE app itself has also been updated and now you will be able to see the Call tab alongside Friends, Chats, Timeline and More. You can see those tabs on the main navigation bar.

When you click on the Calls tab, you’ll be able to see your call history. So that drunken call you made to your ex that you don’t remember? You’ll see the evidence there. If you also want to see how often or how not often you call a certain friend (or your mom), you can just click on them on the app and your call history will appear (and make you feel guilty for the lack of history).

You can use LINE Out either the old-fashioned way (keyeing in the actual numbers) or you can set up in your settings so you can use it to make calls to your contacts who aren’t using LINE yet. You can update your LINE app from the Google Play Store page.
