Have you ever been at a sprawling shopping mall with friends and decided to split up and just meet later, but you all got lost for one reason or another? Are you worried that the people you invited to your party will have difficulty following your instructions on how to get to the location? Or did you really just want to keep track of where all your kids, nephews and nieces are? Messaging app LINE has a new way to deal with that, and that is through a new sub-app called LINE HERE.

It may seem like a bit stalkerish at first, but really, once you figure out the various situations where you can use the location-sharing app, then it will actually make sense. In just one glance at the map on your app, you’ll be able to see where everyone is and if they’re actually moving towards your location, or just enjoying a cup of coffee somewhere. You can choose to share your location with whomever you choose (even non-LINE friends). If contacts are in the vicinity or leave a designated place, you can receive notifications as well.

Of course privacy can become an issue with this kind of app. You can choose when to share and not to share your location. You can even set timers so that you can control how long the location information will be shared. This timer can be set in each group or what they call location sharing rooms. As mentioned earlier, non-LINE friends can also receive your location information through a URL.

You can download LINE Here for free from the Google Play Store. It seems useful during certain times, but as we all know, stuff like this can be abused by some people, so hopefully LINE will be able to set certain protocols and features for more privacy protection.
