LG announced the Optimus F5 smartphone earlier in the month during Mobile World Congress and as of today it looks like we have some details in terms of an upcoming release. That release is with Verizon Wireless and it is expected that the Optimus F5 will arrive as the LG Lucid 2. The original Lucid (seen below) was sporting the model number of VS840 and this follow-up looks to be the VS870.
Perhaps more important here, the release of the Lucid 2 (seen below) will bring another mid-level device to the Verizon Wireless lineup. We have yet to see any pricing details, however speculation suggests that the Lucid 2 should be available within the month. Time will tell just how accurate that timeline will be. For now, lets discuss those specs.
The Optimus F5 feature set begins with a 4.3-inch IPS display with a 256 ppi, dual-core 1.2GHz processor and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Other goodies will include 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage space, a microSD card slot, 2150 mAh battery, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera and 5 megapixel rear-facing camera.
When LG announced the Optimus F5 they had said it was intended to bring a “premium user experience and the speed of 4G LTE to a mass audience.” That being the case, the handset will have 4G LTE connectivity along with some software features that were previously only found in some of the higher-end LG devices. Those include what LG refers to as the "advanced UX" features. Basically, these include QSlide and Live Zooming.
