We already know that LG would be releasing a souped down version of the G5 in Latin America. It seems the launch in South America is getting nearer as a similar variant with reduced specs appeared in a benchmark database. Instead of the premium Snapdragon 820, this LG G5 phone is listed with a Snapdragon 652 processor. No confirmation yet by LG but we’ll call this new variant of the G5 as LG G5 Lite.

The LG G5 Lite is said to have already appeared in LG’s regional websites in Mexico and Panama. The LG G5 Lite to be released on both countries will have the S652 chipset but the Panama version will be faster with up to 2.0GHz. The LG G5 Lite will have 3GB RAM only and not the 4GB of the premium variant. Standard storage listed will start at 32GB and there’s the microSD memory card as well for storage expansion.

LG seems to have retained the 2K display, dual camera, and the interchangeable modules (modular design). This means the LG G5 Lite will come equipped with the same 5.3-inch QHD display, 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, curved glass cover, 16MP main camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 135° wide-angle lens, and 2800mAh removable battery.

If the LG G5 is so good, why would LG release a Lite version? Central and South American countries are more difficult to infiltrate with premium phones mainly because of the price. Since the LG G5 is an expensive phone, people there usually have a hard time buying the device. By reducing the specs, there is a big chance that LG might sell the G5 and probably beat Samsung since the S7 and S7 edge phones are also still expensive. LG jus to release it in the market earlier before the rumored S7 Mini is introduced.
