The LG G2 has been available for quite some time now, however it looks like LG may be prepping another variant. Similar to current trends, it is looking like an LG G2 Mini may be in the works. The details are still in the rumor category, however it is looking like the handset will be announced in January and sporting a 4.7-inch display.

The details are being shared by the Greek language Techblog and hint at the announcement coming early in the month. They suggest the announcement will take place during CES. The interesting aspect here, while a 4.7-inch display is smaller in size, we aren’t fully convinced that can truly be considered a mini. Especially when the LG G2 carriers a 5.2-inch display.

There wasn’t anything available in terms of the display quality on the G2 Mini, though we do know the regular sized G2 has a 1080p display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. Other manufacturers, notably Samsung have stepped down the quality of the display when going from the regular to mini-sized models. Further details on the handset show it to be powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB of RAM.

While the display size, processor and RAM have all been mentioned, there is still quite a bit missing form the current set of rumors. We have yet to see anything on the rear-facing controls. As well, there hasn’t been any mention in terms of which version of Android the handset would be running at launch. That said, given the timing we would hope to see Kit Kat. Otherwise, if LG doesn’t announce the handset in January during CES, there is also Mobile World Congress which comes just a few months later.
