LG’s G Pad 7.0, the Korean OEM’s answer to the iPad Mini, will finally be arriving in US shores courtesy of AT&T this August. The carrier announced that the Android tablet will be available through them starting August 8. The G Pad 7.0 has several features, some from the heralded LG G3 smartphone, that makes it a viable alternative option for those looking for a new tablet.

The 7-inch tablet is running on a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor on Android 4.4 KitKat and has an HD+ IPS LCD display. Its main camera has 5-megapixels and the battery can last for 10 hours of usage due to its 4000 mAh battery. Just like the LG G3, the G Pad 7.0 has a Knock Code instead of a PIN code, where you use a pattern of knocks that you tap out on your phone to lock and unlock it. In terms of productivity, multi-tasking is the key for some, so the tablet has a Dual Window capability which lets you work on two compatible apps at the same time. The QSlide function lets you drag and drop content from one window to the other, as well as adjusting their size and transparency.

Quickmemo aims to make journaling on your tablet easier for the user with this built-in app, allowing you to make notes on screenshots or pictures that you want to insert. Meanwhile the QPair allows your G Pad to extend your smartphone, not just LG but any phone running on Android 4.1 and above, to your tablet. You can take calls, send and receive messages and check social accounts as well.

The LG G Pad 7.0 is available at $149.99 with a two-year agreement but can also be purchased for $12.50 a month for 20 months, no annual contract needed. If you also plan to get an LG smartphone, either the G2, G3 or G Flex, you can add a G Pad to your plan for just $0.99.
