It’s been quite a while and a very busy month, especially with new high-end devices that have popped up, like the new OnePlus 2 and the Moto X Style and Moto X Play, all viable smartphones for gaming. And while we’re waiting for Samsung to make its pitch in about two weeks, we can while the days away with some of the best Android games that are gracing our screens this month. From long overdue sequels to PC games come to mobile, welcome to Android Community’s top five picks for the month of July 2015.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 ($2.99)

Admit it! You just can’t get enough of the disturbingly horrifying animatronic animals. Well, game developer Scott Cawthon is only too happy to please and to corrupt your childhood memories of these furry robots forever. If that weren’t bad enough, this fourth installment of the game puts you in the shoes of a child. Yes, a child! Though the role of that child is yet to be uncovered, the very thought might be enough to send chills down your spine and have your reaching for your smartphone to buy this $2.99 oddity.

Toram Online (Free, In-app Purchase)

Though it may sound like yet another mobile MMO, creator Asobimo has a rather different reputation. Responsible for titles such as the “samurai ninja” MMORPG IZANAGI Online and Iruna Online (of which this is a successor), you’ll know that this game is not your typical mobile online game and isn’t just a lip service to the MMO genre. With a gameplay that resembles PC MMORPGs more than your run of the mill mobile variety, Toram Online plunges you into a virtual world filled with players running about and monsters scattered throughout wild areas. Improving on Iruna Online, Toram offers more customization options and a slightly better visual presentation. That said, your characters do still look like kids, so it might not be to everyone’s tastes.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf (Free, In-app Purchase

Dungeons and Dragons might have the run of the high fantasy gaming world, but Warhammer comes a very close second, waging war between humans and orcs even before Warcraft made it fashionable. Warhammer 40,000 or 40K catapults that theme into the far future, turning fantasy into science fiction. One of the very few Warhammer 40K games on Android, Space Wolf bends genres, mixing turn-based strategy and card collecting into one bloody package. This time though, you aren’t up against the Orks (yes, with a ‘k’) but against your fellow humans, the treacherous Chaos Space Marines. And when you’re tired beating the hell out of the AI, you can try your skill against real humans in the game’s PvP multiplayer mode.

Forsaken World Mobile (Free, In-app Purchase)

It is rare for mobile “MMORPGs” to resemble PC ones but it’s even rarer for a PC title to actually make a port to mobile. In what could be the start of a new trend, Perfect World Entertainment, one of the biggest names in the MMO industry, teamed up with mobile developer Fedeen to bring its Forsaken World game to Android. While not exactly a 1:1 version of the PC game, Forsaken World Mobile checks off enough items to make the connection, from stunning visuals to non-trivial content. No kiddie avatars here, you’ve got full grown-up characters. Possibly even too grown-up. Sadly, the mobile game also inherits the PC version’s gender locked class system, a travesty in this day and age. Make sure your smartphone is well equipped for Forsaken World Mobile because it is really going to heat things up.

Angry Birds 2 (Free, In-app Purchase)

Of course, who can resist the allure of flinging suicidal avians against psychotic green swine? After years of putting out different expansion and spin offs, Rovio has finally launched what the world has been waiting for. Or not. Yes, only now do we have Angry Birds Part Deux. While the plot (pigs steal eggs, birds get revenge) and basics of the gameplay (flinging super powered birds with a slingshot) remains practically the same, Rovio spruced up the mechanics just a bit to keep you on your toes. Each level is now made up of multiple “rooms” or phases. There’s an element of CCG where you randomly get birds and can choose which one to fling next. And then there are the absurd spells that can make or break your streak. Of course, the graphics has also been level up to match this decade’s tastes. So who’s up for another few years of Angry Birds?
