Lenovo isn’t a brand you’d immediately associate with Android smartphones, but the company definitely wants to change that perception. It has just recently announced the Vibe Z K910 phablet in China that, as far as specs are concerned, rivals most smartphones of this generation.

It seems that no high end smartphone these days does not sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, unless it has some cool trick up its sleeve like the Motorola Moto X or even the iPhone 5s. The Vibe Z K910 is no exception. Qualcomm’s latest system-on-chip affords the smartphone clock speeds of 2.2 GHz. Paired with 2 GB of RAM and the Qualcomm Adreno 330 graphics chip, this device will be quite a powerhouse. And indeed, it scores a decent 34,000 points on AnTuTu.

The rest of the K910’s specs are similar to most phablets, and make no mistake, this is a phablet. It sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display with a 1080×1920 resolution. That said, word is that it has quite a slim profile at 6.9 mm. It also has a 13 megapixel rear camera, coupled with a 5 megapixel camera at the front. Its internal storage is pegged at 16 GB. At launch, it will be running Android 4.2.2 although it is possible that it would be upgraded to Android 4.3 in the near future.

Lenovo has been mum on pricing and availability, but the Vibe Z K910 is expected to launch first in China. It will be interesting if the smartphone makes its way to the US to compete with the other established big players in the Android smartphone market.
