Lenovo has yet to break out with a truly flagship level phone, as far as we can remember. But with the Vibe line of phones, it looks like the brand is growing some serious midrange market muscle. The Lenovo Vibe X3 has not been a well kept secret, and we pretty much know some of the details coming in. But it’s good to see things as official, now that the new midrange phone – or phones, shall we say – have been launched in China.

The Lenovo Vibe X3 will come in three variants, the first two varying only in internal storage but practically the same all throughout. The third is a “youth” version, the specs brought down a bit so that the pricing can be adjusted to the younger generation – but still having some serious oomph. The top tier versions will sport 5.5-inch FullHD (1080p) displays with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 scratch protection. That will be powered by the 64bit hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset, with a very generous 3GB RAM. You can get this either in the 64GB or the 32GB variant, both having 3,600mAh batteries. Both variants also share a 23MP/8MP camera combo, with the main shooter being a very competent Sony IMX230 sensor.

Common to all three, the phones have dual SIM slots with 4G LTE connectivity, microSD expansion, and a very robust audio system. All three variants boast of 3 separate Texas Instruments OPA1612 amplifiers, a Cirrus Logic WM8281 codec for noise and echo cancellation, and a premium Sabre 9018C2M DAC. That’s great, considering these are midrange phones.

The “youth” version carries the same display, although it is powered by what is probably a lower cost MediaTek octa-core processor (from the “true octa-core” wording), supported by 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The battery is lower but still huge at 3,400mAh, and the camera combo stands at 16MP/5MP. The 64GB variant is priced at USD$470, while the 32GB variant is at USD$390. The “youth” version is priced at USD$300. No information yet on which variants will make it internationally.
