Rumors were going around that the new smartphone that Lenovo will be announcing will be a placeholder for an upcoming updated model of the mid-range Moto E. But now that the device called the Vibe C2 has been officially announced in Russia through the local Lenovo website, we now see that it is a standalone phone and not actually part of the Moto E series. There is no news yet if this will be available in other markets, but we will probably see that happen or at least a variant of this phone with maybe a different name.

But for now, what we do know about the Vibe C2 is that it has a 5” 720p display and is powered by a quad-core 1.0GHz Cortex-A53 processor, Mali-T720MP2 GP. It has 1GB RAM and you can choose between an 8GB or 16GB expandable internal storage. It also has dual-SIM connectivity as well as support for LTE. As for the camera, the smartphone has an 8MP main shooter and a 5MP front-facing camera so it’s not that great but it’s decent.

The Vibe C2 will run on a 2750mAh battery which is pretty common for devices in this range. It will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow already and you will of course also get the Vibe UI as well. As for color options, nothing so exciting as you can only choose between black or white.

There are no pricing or availability details yet on the Lenovo Russia site, but we probably can expect more information in the next few days. Let’s also wait and see if the Vibe C2 will also make an appearance in other markets.
