Lenovo is definitely not done in its campaign to leave its mark in the worldwide Android smartphone market. For its next stop, the manufacturer will be unleashing a number of low-cost smartphones from its A series in India.

At the top of the rung is the Lenovo A850, a mid-range phablet that sports an unnamed 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. It’s 5.5-inch IPS display only has a 960×540 resolution but at least has wide viewing angles of up to 178 degrees. It only has 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of storage but is expandable with a microSD card. It also has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera. The A850 will have two color options of black and white.

The A516 and A369i are low-range smartphones, both running on a lower 1.3 GHz dual-core processory and 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of storage. The larger A516 has a 4.5-inch 854×480 IPS display while the A369i has a 4.0-inch 800×480 screen. The A516 will come in charcoal grey and white options but the A369i will only come in black.

All three smartphones have the usual connectivity features such as 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, and even GPS. They will all be running on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and, as usual with smartphones in the region, will be sporting dual SIM support.

If the feature specs of these smartphones sound rather unimpressive, it is because they are meant to be entry-level devices. The Lenovo A850 carries a price tag of 15,999 rupees, around $260, while the A516 and A369i will sell for 10,999 and 6,999 rupees, respectively, or roughly $180 and $120. The smartphones will be available in India in October from Lenovo Exclusive Stores and online from thedostore.com, as well as from major outlets.
