If you haven’t yet discovered the joys of having the Field Trip app on your smartphones, now you can start receiving info about all the cool facts and tidbits in your area through your wrists. The Google-powered app has now included support for Android Wear, receiving the same features that you receive on your Android smartphone from the app, but optimized for your wearable device.

Too bad that Field Trip is still an unfamiliar app for some people. It’s actually a pretty neat companion to have, whether you’re traveling or wanting to discover more about the area you see everyday. Through its more than 200 content partners, you receive pop-up facts about restaurants, landmarks, museums, etc whenever you would pass by somewhere that has corresponding information about it. When you’re in your own city, you can still use it as you probably don’t know everything about your surrounding area. It’s a good time to discover new things through this app.

For the Android Wear support, you need to be running the app in the background for this to work, just like on your smartphone. Then you’ll receive cards that will pop up every once in a while on your smartwatch’s screen. You can also search the app for more info using Voice Commands while speaking into your wearable. If you’re in an area that has a lot of info, it can get a bit annoying though, but having it on your smartwatch reduces the effort of pulling out your phone either to dismiss or to read the pop-up card.

The app has been updated already so you should see the Android Wear integration now. If you don’t have Field Trip yet on your smartphone, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store.
