If you know who Iron Maiden is, well, you’re probably a little older than most here. But there’s no shame in that, Iron Maiden is one of the most popular and iconic heavy metal bands of all time (next to the Backstreet Boys). How cool is it, then, that this band is getting its own app – and a mobile game at that?

Roadhouse Interactive, the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Carnage, are working with 50cc Games to bring the game called “Legacy of the Beast” to Android (and iOS) pretty soon. Developers say that the game should be launching this summer as a free-to-play RPG set in an expansive “Iron Maiden universe,” whatever that means.

It sounds like the game will be a reflection of the band’s gothic aesthetic and roots, so prepare yourself for that kind of feel. Players will be playing as Eddie, the Iron Maiden mascot, exploring worlds and traveling through time. You will be battling baddies and enemies drawn from none other than the Iron Maiden albums, of course. And the soundtrack – what do you think? Of course, it will feature different tracks from the band’s entire discography.

To that end, we are hearing that the soundtrack for the game will even include a few unreleased live recordings of some Iron Maiden classics. So if you are a fan of the band, this should be a treat for you. No details are out yet on the date of release, but we’re sure you won’t mind the short wait.
