While the 30-second limit that Instagram put on the videos you can upload to the photo (and video) sharing site forced mots people (brands in particular) to be more creative, most of us probably still wished that we could post something longer than that. Well, Instagram will soon let you do that as they have officially announced that they will let users post longer videos, 60 seconds to be exact, pretty soon as the rollout starts today.

If you’ve been observant, you know that Instagram has already allowed advertisers to post 60 second videos months ago. But it looks like finally, they want to give users the chance to tell “longer” stories, or at least 30 seconds longer than they used to. Whether that’s from public demand or because they want to give equal opportunity for both advertisers and just regular users, either way, it should be good for both those who love making short videos or those who love watching them.

The iOS users have an advantage over Android users as they will be able to combine clips from several videos and turn it into a, well, multi-clip video. They didn’t indicated if this feature would also come to the Android app, but most likely, it will. To “celebrate” the launch, Instagram put together a 37 second video (they should have just made it 60) featuring some of the more popular Instagram video posters.

One thing that they should and will probably do is to add more video editing features on the app itself. Of course you have other apps that you can use for that, but having something built-in the Instagram app would be much appreciated. The rollout of the update stars today, but some users may have to wait months for this feature to be available to them.
