Instagram is only a few months old and it has already reached over a million users. The popular quick photo sharing application has been a huge hit on the iOS platform, so popular that it is boasting about 100,000 new users a week. Now, in an effort to further expand the application, they have announced that they do in fact have plans for an Android version.

“Android is really important to us, and we know it’s important to lots of people too”

They didn’t mention any specifics in regards to when we can expect the application, but they do have a few things they need to take care of first. Their order of operations will be as follows: introduce an API, a new website with revamped features, and then finally and Android application.

However, we can’t expect to wait too long, companies are always looking for ways to greatly increase their market share and introducing an Android application will do just that.
