IFTTT (If This, Then That) has been available for the iPhone, and recently launched for the iPad as well. And while we have yet to see an Android release, it does appear as that is currently in the works. IFTTT posted about a beta release on Google+ recently.

That bit should be good news for Android users who have been waiting for an IFTTT app to arrive in the Play Store. There is a catch for now though, we have yet to see any indication of how long the beta period is expected to last. Not to mention, it appears many have been waiting as the beta program closed almost as quickly as it opened.

The folks at IFTTT pulled the Google+ posting as soon as they filled the beta group. We hope the program goes smoothly, and there are few bugs found — but mostly because we are anxious to begin playing ourselves.

IFTTT, as mentioned, is If This, Then That. Essentially, you can use IFTTT to automatically trigger actions. You use what the service calls recipes. There are countless options available, with one simple example being to automatically backup your Instagram images to Evernote. You can also use IFTTT to automate posts across social services. But again, those are only two basic examples.

As the details for the Android beta IFTTT group are closed — we have yet to see what the full feature set will be. We have played with IFTTT on the web, and encourage others to do the same. In terms of the iOS feature set, there users can do everything from backup contacts to a Google Spreadsheet, to automatically save images to a cloud service and more.
