Coming as was expected, Huawei officially unveiled the Honor 6 smartphone today. The handset was announced with a 5-inch 1080p display and octa-core chipset, however it seems much of the hype is surrounding the measurements. In this case we are looking toward the thickness and the bezels. Or maybe more specific, the lack of bezel.

The 5-inch display is said to take up 75.7 percent of the front of the phone. That leaves room for a left and right bezel size of just 2.86mm. Remaining measurements have the handset at 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm and with a weight of 135 grams. Huawei also mentioned how the Honor 6 was build with aluminum alloy to help keep the overall temperature a bit lower. In fact, Huawei said this should keep the handset roughly 4-6 degrees Celsius cooler.

The processor is from Huawei. They are using the Kirin 920 chipset, which makes use of the big.LITTLE architecture. That means the processor is made up of four Cortex A15 cores and four Cortex A7 cores. This is a setup similar to Samsung and the Exynos octa-core chipsets. Other details for the Honor 6 include Mali-T624 and support for LTE Cat 6 which means support for download speeds up to 300Mbps down.

The Honor 6 is running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat with Emotion UI 2.3, and remaining hardware specs include 3GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, 16GB (or 32GB) of internal storage space, a 5MP camera on the front and a 13MP camera on the back. Specifics for the rear camera show this being a Sony IMX214 sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

We’ve yet to see much in the way of pricing and release details, however we aren’t expecting to see a widespread global release. In other words, the Honor 6 is likely to remain available only in China.
