HTC Thunderbolt: It’s not your dream phone, it’s the one after that. As if my last story about the Thunderbolt wasn’t enough, We now have news of some In-Store Verizon pamphlets showing a little more details about the device. Our friends over at Phandroid have got some pictures of the pamphlet Verizon will be using to push the launch of the device. As you look through the pages it boasts some good information.

Verizon outlines a few details regarding the extreme speeds of Verizon’s 4G LTE Network, Skype video chat working seamless with PC users, and mobile hotspot to name a few. If you read my link at the beginning you’ll see the price is still expected to be $299, unless the in-store pictures at Best Buy prove to be accurate. We still don’t know for sure when this device will make it to the masses. So hold tight and be ready to buy some of that 4G speed when it finally gets released.

  1. my G1 broke towards the end of december so i brought a prepaid phone to put my SIM card in until this phone comes out. if i would have known it was going to take this long i would not have waited for it. i am so sick of this prepaid phone! release the phone already!!!!

  2. I heard that the problem causing the delay is the 4G radio is draining the battery too fast. What is messing is up is since not all areas have 4G the phone is switching between 3G and 4G and trying to find signals, so the battery drains. Last I heard is the new firm ware is doing good in testing, but I think that it is safe to say that it will not be out until at least the 17th, the IPad2 is scheduled to release on the 11th so I imagine that Apple will not want the Thunderbolt to release around that time and steal its thunder.

      • Unlike the Iphone 4, The Ipad 2 is not a phone nor will it be running on 4G, so it has no bearing on the Sales of the Thunderbolt. So your speculation is incorrect. They are not in the same class of devices. I gave up my Iphone and also have an iPad. So I still can use the iPad for the things I missed about the iPhone. Bottom line is this. I love Android phones but we cannot argue that the App Store for iOS is 100X better than the Android market by far. But Android phones rock more than the iPhone. So Ipad for me and Thunderbolt for my phone= I happy customer.

  3. You know, this is the first time I’ve heard an explanation/theory of why there’s a delay, and it had to come from someone not working for HTC or Verizon!!

  4. Come on now.we can try and threaten htc and verizon, but when the phone does release, you will be waiting in line to pick it along with me. Who are you trying to kid?

  6. [Whine!]

Fact: The phone was debuted at CES along with plenty of other phones that have not yet been released.
Fact: Verizon never gave a release date.
Fact: If they released the phone with poor performance, you’d be bitching about the poor performance.

I, for one, am looking forward to the release of this device. Ever more so, since I can’t stand my iPhone 3G and I’m looking forward to getting off AT&T. However, if Verizon released this phone with problems, you’d all be bitching about the problems. In reality, Verizon NEVER GAVE A RELEASE DATE. So give Verizon your e-mail address and they’ll e-mail you when the phone is ready. Step 2 is stop reading all the rumors. In the meantime, stop bitching about the phone release as if it’s something that’s owed to you. If you’d rather go with another phone, then do it! My hunch is you’ll just wait like the rest of us and get the Tbolt once it’s available because you realize it’s a great device and all this “waiting” won’t really seem like that big of a deal, in retrospect.

    • Buck.
Fact verizon let best buy pre-sell phone
Fact Best buy didn’t make it’s own release dates
Fact if you put coming soon as a release date soon doesn’t sound like months does it?
Fact since i’ll go by ur theory of them not releasing a date…no one in verizon has offically said it’s having issues with apps or battey so it must not be true…

And actually we are owed information on its release…yes it will release when it releases and all thebitching in the world won’t change that but when people have their money down on the phone for what about 2 months now? something needs to be said about what is up with it…..

  9. Hey Whine and Sifatulikihihifo. The fact is that the stick is big and if I hit on u’r ass it will hurt so bad that you’ll leave the fucking thunderbolt and run like a chicken.

  11. Yea, it’s a dream phone alright, because it’s only happening in our dreams. This is the dumbest release of a cell phone I’ve seen thus far. Not to mention Verizon’s customer retention policy sucking the big one. “here, have 4G, it’s fast, but you are going to pay more for less and have a cap on data that a 2 year old could blast through in 30 minutes” Yay V!
