Word is getting around the launch date for the HTC Thunderbolt has been delayed. Originally scheduled to be available on February 24, the new date is now February 28th. No real reason was offered for the slight delay.

Best Buy has been offering the Thunderbolt through Verizon on pre-order since early February. The rate is advertised at $249.99 with a new two-year contract with an unsubsidized rate set at $749.99. And while Verizon fans are itching to get their hands on the first LTE/4G phone, having to wait a few days longer isn’t so bad.

  1. yes waiting a few days later is aweful…everyone has been waiting for this phone and when everythig was pointing to a feb 14th release date for it to come out a full 2 weeks later is not going to make to many fans happy…and honestly i feel like everyone should boycott the thunderbolt because verizon is having a very cocky attitude for it..so far they still dont have a release date and they feel like people will buy it no matter what..well they r gonna lose atleast 4 more customers for the thunderbolt if they delay it again:(

    • We are all just going to pretend we are switching carriers, but will jump at the chance to get the first lte phone. I agree with what Verizon is doing. Will get the Bolt when it is available!

      • While I agree that this wait has been frustrating, I would just warn the ship jumpers that I haven’t heard much good about the iphone, I mean who makes a phone without a removable battery? The battery goes and the phone becomes disposable? And as far as moving to AT&T, been there done that. Verizon’s network and customer service is in most cases very good, where AT&T network and customer service is an example of what not to do. Don’t forget, you can use their pseudo 4G network, a fast processor and all kinds of RAM but if you don’t have a good signal it’s moot. The Thunderbolt release date frustration is caused by 3rd party speculation only. Not by Verizon, however I do think because of all the frustration, they should or would speak up now to end all this. God help them if they come to market and can’t fulfill demand.

      • Att does suck. Im glad i got my 50 down on it at BB due to demand. I got the last INC on release date and did not anymore in stock for 2 months.Think ahead people!

      • I like many other put my pre-order in the first week of February and have been waiting for the Thunderbolt to release ever since the first annouced date of February 14th. Finally this morning I got a call from a Rep stating that the phone will finally arrive on Thursday March 17th. Just wanted to share the news with everyone out there that is so anxious to atleast hear some kind of news. Hope this helps.

  2. It’s the exact same phone as the Inspire (minus front camera) and Inspire is only $400.00 retail. I think I will not wait and get my iPhone 4

    • insprise is the same as the thunderbolt? the have the same processor and the same amount of ram, but one is on at&t’s 3g hspca+ while the other one is on a truer 3g evolution the lte. the thunderbolt has double the internal memory. one has slcd one has samoled, can you guess which? one has a more modern chipset and larger battery. furthermore the retail for the inspire is 449. can you justisfy the the 300 price difference? i guess it depends on you, but this is certainly not the same exact phone, not even close.

      • The inspire 4g also lacks a front facing camera and only comes with a 8GB Mini SD card. The Thunderbolt has a front facing camera and comes pre-installed with a 32GB card. I looked up the cost of a 32GB micro SD card on AT&T’s website and it was 139.00 by itself, so the TB is the best of the two phones, hands down. As far as people dogging AT&T’s network, that is BS. I have had Verizon, AT&T and Sprint. I have never had dropped calls with AT&T ever and I have an Iphone 4. I have also been in some of these places people complain about and never had problems. I have been in buildings where I had 3 bars of service and my buddy on Verizon was having “No Service”. AT&T may not have it all but their 3G service is faster than Verizon hands down, and while in the Military I was able to take my Iphone to Germany and Italy and still use it. Yes for a cost, but it worked. If I unlocked it, I could have put a Sim card in it and used it on their networks for cheap. I want the TB because I am bored now with iOS and like the HTC Sense interface on Android. Also I know that AT&T has the Inspire, but it does not have a front facing camera and I do not like Motoblur or Samsung’s interface on the Captivate. So hello Big Red and the TB. It is not because I think AT&T has crappy service. I will never think that, because it is down right not true at all.

  3. It’s the exact same phone as the Inspire (minus front camera) and Inspire is only $400.00 retail. I think I will not wait and get my iPhone 4

    • You’d prefer a fast phone one a horrible network? that isn’t really 4g. You go to att, more bandwidth for the rest of us 🙂

      • Horrible network? Nah, AT&T has a good network, and their 3G speed is superior to Verizon. My wife has V and I have a 3GS and when we do speed tests I consitantly get 3 Mbps and she gets .800 or .900 Mbps. AT&T is faster here in Atlanta.

      • Im not sure about other places in the country but where i am i get about 5-10 sent failed messages a day with att, and they really have a problem with releasing top of the line phones other then iphone and captivate and now the atrix. even the inspire 4g i dont consider top of the line because iv used it and theres no way that battery would last me close to half a day but this is all just my personal findings, somebody else could think its great

  4. The theory on the delayed release date is so new iPhone for Verizon users don’t have buyer’s remorse. I wouldn’t be shocked if it gets pushed again, to mid-March

    • John, If I bought an iPhone on Verizon and saw a device like the Thunderbolt being released then I would take the iPhone back within the 14 day return period regardless of knowing when the phone was going to be released. You can always go back to your old device and go month to month until the Thunderbolt gets released. I am not so sure this will stop people from returning their iPhones if they are surely wanting to switch to the TB.

  5. I totally agree with the other posts. My contact is up with Verizon. The Thunderbolt was possibly worth staying for, but Verizon’s cavalier attitute toward it’s customers is pathetic. I too will probably go with ATT Atrix. Verizon can play games with someone else.

  6. The thing people don’t understand is that Verizon has not came out and gave us a release date yet. They said a while ago it would be Q1, which it still is until the end of March. So don’t hate on Verizon unless it goes past March, all of this info is just speculation.

    • Its not about how long its taking, its more about the lack of info. show your customers some respect and give them some real information. if its gonna take until mid march then tell us the release date. People wouldnt be freaking out so bad right now if verizon would just say something.

    • Its not about how long its taking, its more about the lack of info. show your customers some respect and give them some real information. if its gonna take until mid march then tell us the release date. People wouldnt be freaking out so bad right now if verizon would just say something.

  7. what the hell, i have been waiting for this phone since first announced. if it is pushed to march thats ridiculous. I have a broken voyager and am going to flip out if it doesnt come out on the 21st or 24th. fml

  8. What’s pissing me off is the complete lack of information coming out from Verizon. My contract is up and I’m itching for a new Android phone. If they don’t hurry this up or throw some info my way, they may be losing a customer. They ain’t the only 4g carrier, and the others already have some serious competition to the Thunderbolt on the market. Note to Verizon: Stop leaving us hanging. Give us the goods already.

    • You are not going anywhere ur gonna sit and wait like everyone else to get it… Verizon is in charge best network fastest service…. You know very well u would not go to tmobile or AT&T hahahahahaha

  9. I am a virezon employee for over 15 ywears and most likely, they will hold off as late as possible to ger as many iphones out and then let the thunderbolt out, I have seen it before so im thinking mid March!!

  10. Why would they have accessories for the phone in stores already if they were going to push it back another month? I could be wrong but I hope the cases I see in the Verizon store is a sign that a release is coming sooner rather then later..

  11. i dont really think they know what there talking about. The phone is already made and verizon confirmed to me it was coming out the 24th. I dont think they made it wait just four more days.

  12. Yeah i’m done with thunderbolt too, i’m number one on pre order at my best buy but with verizon treating its long time customers like this, and the atrix out on the 22nd now, no thunder striking here, what about people that buy iphone on on march 1st, they will have until the 15th to return it so lets push TB back to april!…..there just stupid!

  13. Alright, I am really getting sick and tired of the waiting for the Thunderbolt and being lied to about the release date. I preordered the thing almost 2 weeks ago. I don’t think that it is right for Verizon to keep customers waiting like this. If I didn’t hate the iPhone so much I think I would get that.

  14. Well if this is due to the iphone why not just give us a date of the 28th or whatever. I have a feeling with the Atrix date earlier than expected I would hope we will hear a date by Monday the 21st. My guess is employees will not get it first thing anyways, we want is just as bad as everyone else. It’s worth the wait, it is much faster than I expected.

  16. The technology industry gets in trouble when deadlines are driven by premature commitments. I would much prefer to exercise my own patience for a timely release that reflects network preparedness, customer support training, and all the other pieces that go on behind the scenes.

Sure, there could be marketing or profit making driving decisions, too, but that really is speculation. However, go slow to go fast applies to a phone rollout just like it does to any successful, complex endeavor.

To those who are going to a different phone because of this delay, consider yourself lucky. If the next great release like the bionic is more appealing to you, your patience for that will be rewarded long term.

  17. Ive been with alltel all my life.. my area is switching to at&t. Ive been looking into verizon and decided to switch and am waiting for the tb. People have a window to get out of contract if they wish.. and this isnt a good first impression. Just give us a release date and quit f’in around already

  18. Go slow to go fast? I’m glad people want technology now…right now. I was watching Shawshank Redemption and as Brooks says ” People went and got themselves in a big hurry”. Well yes we are in a hurry Brooks, I want my Thunderbolt now so I fend off some of my AT&T friends who get the latest equipment. Who wants to wait…not me. I want 4g LTE so I can brag to my friends about how fast Verizon is. I’m tired of “going slow”

  19. I am walking into Best Buy on the 24th and if the Thunderbolt is not there I will be walking out with an Atria and AT&T will have my $200 a month 2 year contract. Smart move by AT&T. The brainiacs at Verizon are really screwing the pooch on this one.

  20. I’ve been anticipating the Thunderbolt as much as the rest of you, but I can tell you first hand that AT&T’s signal is horrid compared to Verizon’s. I purposely kept my Razor with Verizon for reliable conference calls while I was lured to the beauty of the iPhone a few years back.

I’m in line for the Thunderbolt and eager yet happy to wait. Anything to get away from AT&T once and for all. Verizon has TV ads specifically stating coming “February” for the Thunderbolt. I don’t think they will push any further. Verizon’s network is truly a 4G network unlike the others and they are anal retentive about releasing phones for their network that have been tested inside and out prior to release.

I actually did some consulting with AT&T. Their network is a mess.

  21. Seriously!? I cannot wait any longer. I’m losing patience with verizon. I want my thunderbolt I neeeeed it. seriously i do need it, my phone broke and contract is up so I do not want to upgrade yet. By the power of greyskull !

  22. Is Verizon trying to desperately give the iPhone a window of opportunity here? The iPhone flopped on Verizon and everyone knows that the Thunderbolt is the truly exciting phone on the network.

I HATE Verizon and even I am considering making the switch just for their 4G LTE network and impressive lineup of smart phones.

  23. I am done waiting, if this is how Verizon treats it’s customers then its no better than AT&T. Initially, I was looking forward to the TB, LTE issues and all, but I am sick of this non-sense. Personally, I think that they have had to promise Apple to buy X number of phones (no matter how many sold), and Verizon customers are smart enough to hold out three more months for an iPhone5. That being said, I plan to return my pre-order this weekend if I don’t get some sort of clarification from Verizon by then and re-up with AT&T.

    • Everyone is talking about an iPhone 5 coming in three months… First, there is no word on that yet, only speculation. Second, even if there is an iPhone 5, who says there is a CDMA version of it? Why would Apple launch the 4 on Verizon, only to replace it 3 months later. That makes no sense whatsoever…

  24. While everyone says Verizon hasn’t “officially” given us a date, they did put out on their twitter feed it was coming sooner than expected or something to that extent. It clearly gave the impression it wasn’t going to be March since Q1 was the arrival window, so it was logical that it would be February.

BB has been taking “pre-orders” which is really just a gift card and your name on a sheet of paper that any jackass at BB can change, cross off, rewrite etc. Where does it actually state during the “pre-order” that we will get one?

I don’t trust Verizon or Best Buy, and I have tried AT&T twice and they sucked both times. I have 4 lines so I can’t easily jump but I don’t have to recommend Verizon either or that people make upgrades that will only be a waste of money.

If Verizon follows what AT&T did and focuses on the iPhone more than anything else, sure they will get cash, but a whole lot of pissed off customers too. Whether or not any carrier sucks really depends on your market and your phone.

    • As far as your comment about Best Buy. You get a reciept that shows that you preordered the phone. So they cannot change, or rewrite that off. The gift card can be used toward the phone or whatever you want in the store.

  25. Im with most of you with these comments. As a vzw customer now for 8 years I will tell you one thing I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AT&T OR SPRINT. Both those companies suck. Now back to why we are here. VZW never gave a date so until they do seriously everyone get a grip and calm down. OMG if it doesnt come the 28th then im gonna to AT&T and get the Atrix. Who gives a shit about the atrix. Fact of the matter is nothing is solid until released by VZW. All these rumors, screen clips from inventory of Best buy, verizon etc showing when and how much dont mean shit. Theres 2 facts you should consider. 1. The TB will be the first phone of 4g for VZW and 2. if you didnt get you pre-order or are thinking about cancelling your pre-order..Well think again bc we all know this phone will sell out within the first week. Mark my words YOU WILL FEEL LIKE A JACKASS BC YOU DIDNT HAVE PATIENCE TO WAIT. Trust me no one needs a new phone than me. I have a Blackberry Storm and freezes up every 5mins, has a cracked screen, shuts off whenever it wants, gets maybe 5 calls total before battery dies, You name the problem I have it. Im waiting for the TB no matter what and When I have it I can tell all my friends who have talking shit for 3 years about there Iphone for AT&T to go a shove it…

    • Although I am like you in the sense that I am waiting for the Thunderbolt, I disagree about the Iphone. The only reason I am leaving the Iphone is because and only because I like HTC Sense and the functionality of Android with HTC Sense. I do not like motoblur or the Samsung UI that those two companies use. I was in the military and had my Iphone in all these places that people claim are terrible. I have had every iPhone since the original release and none of them ever dropped calls, had bad battery life, had poor signal strength, or any issues. The only reason I am not getting the Inspire 4G is because it does not have a front facing camera. As far as people complaining about AT&T and dropped calls and poor reception, in my opinion it is Big Red clients that have nothing to do but complain. I have used Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T. All of them have great reception. Some have better customer service, and by far, AT&T has the fastest 3G service of them all. So keep complaining about AT&T, but take it from someone who has really tested them all, Verizon is not superior to any of them, it is just personal choice.

      • Maybe it has to do where you are. I live in the middle of nowhere and if I’m going to pay for service, I better get it! =D I definitely experienced the dropped calls and poor reception with at&t. That is why I stick to Verizon because it has NEVER let me down.

      • wow you must have not been down south because sprint is horrible, t mobile is bad and at& t never has any service ..i got Verizon about 2 years ago an i allways have service..so verizon is definately SUPERIOR!

  26. More HTC Thunderbolt release Info – this is what I know… My local Verizon “CORP” store got there shipment of accessories for the thunderbolt today 17th , and while this in its self doesn’t mean much! I was told that normally they receive Items a week before the phone goes on sale and that it is usually a Thursday – that would point to the 24th, I brought up the 21st / 28th Monday as a possible day and was told “Unlikly”, they also stated that the Xoom is confirmed for sale on the 24th

  27. Here is my take, Don’t worry about things you have no control over. You cannot set the price, release date or such. I too am waiting for the Thunderbolt to release but we do not have any authority to speed it up. If you want to get your money back so be it. But don’t complain when you do and cannot get the phone you wanted for a month because you did not pre-order. The complaining is not going to speed up the process. All it sounds like is a bunch of adult immature people who have no patience. Sorry I am being harsh but I am being honest.

As far as Apple is concerned. It would not surprise me if they told Verizon that they cannot release any phones until a certain quota of sales is reached. Apple is very goal and sales oriented and may be behind this. I know this sucks and is just my take and not to be taken as golden, but if this is the case, They should have never put the iPhone onto Verizon until the release of the iPhone 5. In my opinion, why would you buy an iPhone now, knowing that a new one is on it’s way in 3 months.

This is why I think Verizon is having trouble selling the iPhone 4. It is almost ready to be replaced. It is not like they discounted it from the prices that were paid last year when the device was new.

  28. I have called verizon several time and as alway the phone receptionist was very polite and concern about their customers complaints. The problem is that the upper level mgt. care less about us there more concerned about getting rid of the Verizon Iphone first then comes the Thunderbolt. That’s marketing for you. The hell with the demand of the consumer. Go to facebook and add you complaint @ anthony6905

  29. everyone relax… no one has done you an injustice… don’t read these phone blogs if you can’t accept faulty information… I’m waiting for the TB as well but this is not Verizon’s fault… this stuff happens all the time.

    • lol, bestbuy has told me a lot of things… they’re almost as consistent (and full of quality) as the folks at the Verizon store, yes you can upgrade, (come in the next day with the cash) no you can’t.

  30. This has been going on since the rumored black Friday release. Believe me I am going to wait for the TB but every delay my sigh gets a little longer. It would be great to have a date get set but I’m sure there are reasons beyond what we can even come up with. My blackberry is missing buttons and the screen barely works. I’m trying to get it to hold on as long as it can. I hope I can do the same.

  31. What are you guys, a bunch of sheep? The 2/28 rumor was based on a P.O. from one store that ordered 18 units that are scheduled to arrive on the 28th. 18 units? You think this store is ordering only 18 units for launch? Really? Or maybe, just maybe, some extra to arrive after launch? It never fails to amaze me how little people actually think about what these rumors are based on.

  33. If the delay is truely because of iphone i wonder how HTC feels about that, they are only the creaters of the best verizon phone to date in the droid Incredible. And yes we have been lied to i’m sure best buy didn’t pull these dates out of there asses, pre on 6th, deliver on 14th. How would verizon treat you if you were to pull same game with your monthly payment, oh it will be there on first, oh i decided to delay, why? i don’t know? They would cut your service in a heartbeat….i believe in treating people how you want to be treated and verizon does not obviously believe in that. Someone somewhere has to know something, Just common courtesy is all i’m looking for, i was fine before dates were given out, but since they were, by best buy for whatever reason, they should work towards that, Motorola has really scuffed opurtunity by not having bionic ready. Alot of us favor htc sense but if bionic were or optimus for that reason which looks to resemble sense alot, htc would really be loosing sales right now, as there ceo announcing they were shipping this week for sure, to bad he didn’t say where to?

    • Best Buy is just a regular retailer so whatever they say is to be taken by a grain of salt. If it was a company CEO from Verizon or HTC then I would understand this but if Best Buy was going to sell your cell phone and you didn’t give them a date but only that it would be out on February, they can make all the assumptions they want as to their release date. But the one who finally knows when its going to be released is the higher ups. What I mean is don’t believe everything you hear in the paper especially if its not from HTC or Verizon

    • do that and be doomed by the moto launch glitch and having to replace your phone ten times till you get one that kinda works haha

  34. OFFICIAL release on the 18th….this is from a Verion/A-Wireless employee. BTW…i hate seeing reports that Best Buy is the only store doing pre-orders…..A-Wireless, which is a National Premium retailer, has had the pre-order for a couple week now.

2.28.11….Thunderbolt…believe this rumor bc its true…and it sucks

  35. It’s a damn phone ppl r trippin I hope it dint come out till the 28th just cause y’all creamin y’all panties over some crazy ish! To the dude with the blackberry hold on bruh it’s comin!

  36. OK EVERYBODY. THIS IS OFFICIAL. THE HTC THUNDERBOLT WILL BE RELEASED ON 2/28.
TAKE THAT TO THE BANK. PERSONALLY, I MA WAITING FOR YTHE DROID. FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT TO WAIT FOR THE THUNDERBOLT AND PLAN TO GO TO ATT FOR THE ATRIX, YOU WILL REGRET IT. THE THUNDERBOLT THAT I SAW IS MAGINIFICENT. HOWEVER, I STILL WANT THE DROID.

    • Um i can tell you know what you are talking about but im in the biz of selling these and its the moto bionic which is a droid device and its the HTC Thunderbolt which is a droid device… people make this mistake all the time the droid is just the OS not the phone itself i have to correct people on it all day every day. I really hope it is the 28th that is the new rumor, i have seen the 14th, 21st, 24th, and 28th haha. When it comes it will be the best phone out.. my opinion most people wont need the dualcore on the motorola bionic but if thats what you want ill be happy to sell it to you ( just know HTC incred had no glitches but moto X and moto Droid 1 and moto Droid 2 and moto Droid 2 Global were the most returned droids due to glitches so im sure they will keep up with their pattern of crappy launch phones and 2 months to fix them.

    • you are a dumb fucking sucking piece of shit that knows nothing about wireless or anything unless its cock and balls in and around ur mouth, “the droid”, genius, is a name of several phones speceific to the motorola droid x,pro, 2 and global, and htc droid incredible which they paid millions to george lucas to use for naming their piece of shit devices. but yes the thunderbolt will be magnificent, so when it cums make sure u have ur knee pads and bib ready you chode blasting taint tickling asshole

      • Your language is absolutely GROSS!!! Is there really any need of this over a ummm phone??? We are all waiting, so this forum should be kept clean and positive… and we should be encouraging one another and respecting others likes and dislikes…. Suavez you are totally rude and so don’t belong commenting…..

  38. it always kills me that those who want things yesterday (because ‘now’ isn’t good enough) are the same ones who are the first to complain when things aren’t exactly perfect. if you rush things rather than making sure they’re right, glitches are going to slip through and people are going to be even nastier monsters. perhaps verizon is just trying their best to make sure they’ve checked everything; it isn’t their fault release date rumors are flying. although i will admit, as a pharmacist, my patients are much happier to be told 20 min and get their meds in 10 than be left in the dark or worse, be told 10 and have to wait 20. in other words, verizon should have said something about an “at the latest” date. then if it happened be ready early, everyone would have been that much happier.

  39. FYI, I spoke to a Verizon employee today and Verizon’s upper management is being tight lipped. No one knows but the corporate when this phone is going to be released. None of these tech websites, none of the employees at Best Buy, etc. Best Buy told me that the AT&T Inspire had a 4.5 inch screen when it clearly states 4.3 and also that when AT&T rolls out LTE that it will support it. I did some research of my own and that is total BS. The Inspire only supports HSPA+ which is not true 4G.

As far as what is being speculated I can agree with. I have had an iPhone since the first generation. I also own a lot of Apple products. Apple is very manipulative and tight lipped as well. The employee believes that Verizon cannot release any phone until 30 days later from the iPhone release to fulfill Apples agreement with Verizon. If this is truly the case, then we will not see any new Verizon phones until 3/14. It would not surprise me at all if this is the case but pure speculation on the employees part.

I want to leave the iPhone for the Thunderbolt but really people, we cannot get something that is not out yet until it is out. Quit going into Hate Verizon, Hate everyone because you are listening to pure rumors. Once the phone is released and you get one, then you will never come back to this forum anyway and you will be happy. But lets face it, once it does release, next month or a month from then, something better will be out and you will be complaining about that release. Technology will continue to be ever changing, so don’t worry about things that are not within our control.

But quit listening to everyone else’s idea about when it will release and just wait. That is all we can do at this point.

    • thats fine but someone gave best buy permission to run in ad on feb6, and told best buy the 14th, if the 30 day policy for iphone is true i’m sure that would not have happened knowing that….and yes best buy employees aren’t the most knowledgable or informed, but every best buy across the country was given and giving out the same information, it had to come from somewhere, and i’m sure it wasn’t best buy. As i’ve seen on here many times, yes we want the phone, yes we have no choice to wait, but yes verizon is handling this all wrong, someone know something, and someone should just communicate, and if the hole holding off so people can’t return there iphones for the better phone, thats a pretty cruddy way of doing business as well. i almost want to go get iphone tomorrow just so i can return it when thunderbolt comes out but way its looking i might get stuck with it…..Perhaps thats why its called a thunderbolt, cuz no one can predict weather right these days….and whats a thunderbolt anyway? i’ve heard of lightning bolt, but not sure i’ve ever heard of thunderbolt before. oh well let me stop, just wish it would get here thats all, and someone will tell us when, no more guesses, an official verizon release.

  40. I have some info from a high ranking person at VZW.. On the T-bolt, when 4g connects the battery is dead within 1 hour. Also network handoff from 4g to 3g isn’t working at all, so they are still trying to work out all the bugs. He also told me that the rumors that Skpe mobile is being removed are totally false. I have had IPhones with AT&T since they first came out, and the T-bolt is the reason I left AT&T, (other than I dropped calls non stop) The phone is gonna be sick,. I had a chance to see all the Verizon 4g phones that are coming out at CES, and the T-bolt was by far the best of them all.

  41. Hey yall! i know how everybody is anticipating this TBolt entry. gues ill put my little skew into everything, so yeah i am patiently waiting, and plus guys, come on, a week, it wont be bad for the wait..go out with your girlfriend, watch a movie or study this week to preoccupy your time. Us guys can figure it all out. Now, in my opinion, i am a firm hater on apple products, to my reasonable doubt, i believe the reason why this TBolt is being overshadowed is due to the fact of apple verizon’s iphone. ok yeah we all know! sadly in january when CES rolled around, not much talk came about the iphone and all about the 4g LTE devices. this very much startled apple with their 3g device. so the reason verizon is letting this TBolt waiting pool increase is to give apple’s pity iphone a poor chance to survive. entually apple’s mobile industry will crack and fall. google’s android experience will overpower mobile industry. sad little apples.. well thats alright, maybe in a good several years when steve jobs dissapears 😉 and somebody else to control. haha its funny how Steve Jobs always thinks he is the BEST because of Apple’s Iphone OS operating system. well stick this up your pipe and smoke it! haha cyall!

  42. First I am a Droid but not knocking You HTC and Apple Lovers. I follow the releases very carefully and as for the Thunderbolt it will be released on Monday the 28th as I was in the actual store today. I am personally awaiting the release of the Bionic* but I am purchasing the TB for my sister. Here are a couple references for You all to verify why the Moto Bionic will be the BEST*

Be Your own judge but don’t insult others* Promote positive*=)

  43. I am in a hurry for this phone to come out because I paid full price for my droid x and then after I pre ordered the thunderbolt from best buy thinking it would be released feb 14 I sold my droid x for $200 now Im without a phone thanks best buy for the false info

  44. I’m sure the issues with the thunderbolt and skype app is are small, they will patch up whatever they need to and everybody will be happy. What I really want to know is what is the 4g pricing is going to be. I can’t imagine vzw offering unlimited data for the same price as 3g or for that matter at all.

  45. To Verizon Management-

Your company is embarrassing itself in regards to the handling of the HTC Thunderbolt release. There is no need to reply to this message but I advise you to simply take a deep breath, stop for a minute and ask for input from non-employees like your immediate family and co-worker friends. This approach will give you the least unbiased views regarding the fiasco surrounding Verizon’s so called “Release Date.” Unfazed? Ok, take a couple of minutes and read the many hundreds of blurbs on the world wide-web.

    • To make a good product and make sure it doesnt flop …….companies push back the date to make sure everything is correct….also in that type of business release date can be very secretive as a competative edge so there opposing companies don’t release something before them…..but something tells me you are the type of customer who complain that there is a delay on a airplane whne there are problems so the flight is slightly delayed so you dont crash ….but that wouldnt be your focus…it would be i paid my money and the flight suppose to leave at 1pm and it 1:15pm and you would call and or write a letter to complain? Im right …..right ? ………….

      • I do agree with you in a sense, but Verizon did authorize Best Buy to advertise and gave them the release dates although Verizon is denying it. I called them today and they said they never gave Best Buy any release dates but my friend works for Best Buy and he said that they cannot give any information or advertisements without the release from the carrier. Verizon has failed in the regard that they must have leaked some info but are denying it. If they were worried about the situation in the first place they should have never said coming soon or release is imminent. They did tweet that it is coming sooner than expected. So if it wasn’t ready then they should have only released information when it was ready to be launched. It is frustrating. And people should be mad. And your comment about airplanes is not entirely true. That is a life and death situation and I don’t know many people who would get upset due to a delay due to engine failure or maintenance. I would see people getting upset when an airline promises free food and then charges a passenger. So when something is promised and then it keeps slipping, people have a right to be angry.

      • You’re a douche, Ron. Alex is totally correct in calling out Verizon for their idiotic handling of the tbolt release info. And your comment about airplanes is also ridiculous. 9/10 times the delays that we’re now so used to have nothing to do with safety issues, but rather they stem from poor management of the airline, airport or both — the only corollary between your airplane comment and this Verizon debacle is, in fact, the ‘poor management’ commonality — and when the f#ck is a delay only 15 minutes? Jackass…

      • Ron is a total douche. Verizon dropped the ball again. The Thunderbolt is over priced as well. The iphone 4 was a bust and they are going to disappoint everyone with the Thunderbolt.

  46. I would not hold your breath for the Feb. 28th release date. I have been dead on thus far with my info and predictions. Verizon just keeps dropping the ball. The Thunderbolt is going to be a big disappointment. They still have not issued a set price and I am fully aware of Best Buys pre-order price of $249.00. However, the phone continues to be delayed and I think it is over priced at $249.00. In addition, I think this phone will be marked down to $150.00 before the summer even starts and everyone will have forgotten all about the Thunderbolt. The Thunderbolt is alot of rumbling and no big thunder bang or lightning to follow. What a joke so far. I am going to pass on the Thunderbolt. Also, no Skype upon release (per rumors) and no comfirmed release date. What a disappointment for a phone that had so much hype. WTF. It is not that hard if they just think of customer relations and keep people imformed.

  47. everyone is just to F’n inpatient. Verizon has not given an official date, so why does everyone assume FEB 12th, 24th or any other date? People are mad about a release date that was given by blogs and speculation! just be F@cking patient. they are probably fixing all the quirks and bugs on the phone and hopefully it will be out soon and we all can move on with life. people are claiming to leave verizon because the phone is late? who says its late? there is no official date and as long as there is no official date from VZW then its not late!!

  48. all i can say is non of us on here will ever know the TRUE release date. believe me im bummed and impatient as most of you are on here but instead of guesing just relax it will be out when its out and if you really want it althought as irritating as it may seem it will be well worth the waite. as far as any info i have seen i went on best buys sight and say it t-bolt in there paper with the price but no release date. the only thing that gave me some what hope was the pricing on the weekly add was suppose to be in affect FEB 20th – FEB 26th. so i thought hey maybe it will be released by then. but as i said im not here to give out incorrect information nor am i saying my hopping was a accurate release date. im just posting what i saw on bestbuy.com. i also called a best buy rep to see what was up they aid no release date by shouldnt be past Feb 28t. so that as well gave me hope. but then i read information there was proof for march 3rd 4th ansd 10th. this is seriously mind nausa. lol lets just all hope verizon, htc, and bestbuy get this show on the road and stop the madness with the guessing of the release dates. thanks for reading and sorry for any errors. im kinda doing this fast lol. thanks agian.

  49. This phone was the reason I was going to switch from AT&T and make the move to Verizon. Let me just say that I have never had any issues with AT&T but wanted the Thunderbolt. Because of all these shenanigan’s I have decided to get the Atrix 4G. It is truely amazing and I was able to get the Clock that I love so much on the HTC Phones with a couple of programs. Well good bye iPhone and Hello Android. Don’t know why I didn’t switch earlier. Now I have a great phone and don’t have to follow these release tomorrow, no next week, no next month gabafle.

  50. My verizon rep told me if I paid off my Thunderbolt preorder today (fri 2/25) I would be guaranteed to have my new badass phone by Monday afternoon before I go to work at 3! We shall see or I will raise holy hellfire…… 😉

  51. I have been eligible for an upgrade with Verizon since summer 2010 but haven’t done so because I didn’t see any phones that were worth it. My “official” contract with Verizon has long since expired. I’ve been waiting for either the HTC Thunderbolt or the Motorola Droid Bionic but, as we can all see, we’re being jerked around on a release date – purely to pad Verizon’s pockets, I’m sure. Anyway, I just got a call from Verizon, who GRACIOUSLY offered me $40 off my bill if I would commit to a 2 year contract – with no upgraded phone. Wow! Are they kidding? They must think all their customers are flat-out stupid. I responded to their gracious offer with “now why would I commit to another 2 years with Verizon, without upgrading to a new phone?”. Their answer: “Oh, but you’d get $40 off your phone bill.” Really? Is that supposed to be their best carrot they’re going to dangle? I told them what phone I was waiting for and that I’d be patient “a little while longer”, but if it’s going to be delayed much longer, I’m switching to AT&T. I heard a very small, soft, “oh, ok, then” at the other end. I’m thinking Big Red has really lost touch with their consumers, and reality…
