The HTC Rezound is set to receive its first major over the air update soon, according to the folks over at Verizon. If you’ve been enjoying that audio bliss from the integrated Beats Audio I can happily tell you it’s about to get better — not to mention other bug fixes and possibly even some better signal strength too.

This is the first major update to land for the new HTC Rezound and is around 52MB in size. Right out of the gate they mention fixing signal issues and adding stability. They’ve also updated the signal indicator with support for 5 bars rather than 4. This will most likely just give the illusion of a better connection. Then they’ve addressed timeout issues while using Wifi, and fixed stalls during mobile hotspot use when multiple users are connected.

After reports of random reboots and issues in that area HTC has also addressed overall performance and stability. Stating they’ve solved a few bugs with force closures in the People application, as well as those random reboots some users reported. While we still patiently await Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this update will have to hold us over til the main treat arrives.

Full details are in the change log image and via below.

  1. I never had ANY performance issues with my rezound but i just got the ota update about 20 minutes ago and installed it. Immediately afterwards i couldn’t connect to the internet and the live weather wallpaper on my home screen, which is ALWAYS accurate with its real-time animations, was way off! But after i powered my phone down then back on, it quickly connected to the internet with no problem.

      • Remember NOT to dial *228 on a LTE 4G phone. You need to reboot to aquire new towers. It,s all about the SIM card on these new 4G phones. Not being a smart but, just trying to help.

  2. I have had the htc rezound for about 2 weeks ,I did have the incredible 2 ,
Nice phone. But to small . Then went to comando great tough phone but is a little slow

    • This thread is not a review of the phone.  We all already own the phone genius.  We are looking for feedback on the latest OS upgrade.

  3. I love this phone HTC REZOUND GOOD WORK GUYS . FAST DOES WHAT IS SAYS. ALSO PEOPLE
if you get signal problems you have to give the phone time to remember where you are at THAT Takes usually 24 to 48 hours ,and also just so you know you can use a regular charger the same 1 you can use for samsung fascinate, htc incredible 2 ,the reason t he charger port is a little different on the htc resound is that have to buy the adapter 4 hd conversion this phone does the same thing moterola will it has hd port you just have to buy the cable ,I don’t care what other people say I love this phone and it works flawlessly you just have to know how to use it

  4. I had the Droid Bionic. Well I had six of them before they sent me a Rezound for replacement. Now I am on my fourth Rezound and seem to have one that works finally! I must be technologically cursed or something? But anyways just want to say the Rezound is pretty awsome! I do not like HTC touch sense or whatever you call it and have replaced it with GO Launcher X. So far so good with that. Also am right now uploading update. I was wondering if any one on hear has r**ted theirs yet and how well it works after new update? I am not sure I want to try but am enticed by freezing VZ’s bloatware. I am using an extended battery and with minimul to low average use it will last almost two days on a charge. I know that is good from other posts on battery life but I still want to freeze that stinking bloatware! Sorry for the wordy post, it’s my first time on one of these sites. Any replies are greatly apreciated.

  5. OK first thing I noticed with new update is the phones earpiece is TOO loud. I thought it was loud before and it just got louder! Anybody else have same isue? I can pull it away from my ear and it sounds like the speaker phone is on and it’s not cause I checked.

      • Easy there cyberguy your maturity is showing. All I was trying to do was put my issues out there hoping to see if someone else has same thing. I definietly know where the volume is and my problem does not allways happen, just now and again.

      • Stop your whining.  I mean, come on, is that really an issue when you have a volume “down” button.  What a dope.

  6. I was using my speak to text and I said the phrase: No I still don’t see it, what color is the folder, and it came up with: No Philadelphia see it, what colors the folder, lol

  7. Here in Phoenix I never really had any issues at all with the Rezound. Woke this mourning and seen the update was downloaded about 12:30AM MST. Haven’t seen improvements in signal strength, to me its still the same. Verizon seems to always have great data and cell signal here in the valley. The Rezound has been a great phone over the 4 Bionic’s I went though.

  8. Still having  some volume issues every now and again and since I had no choice in what they sent me I am trying to get used to this HTC sense stuff but have foung that GoLauncher X works rather well just a bit laggy sometimes. Anybody rooted rezound yet? How does it work?

    • Why would you want to root this phone?  I do agree that Sense is a bit lacking but I’ve gotten used to it and its not bad.  How long have you had it?  Give Sense some time and you will get used to it.  Otherwise, its a great phone (battery life could be a improved).

  9. I will say this Rezound is super fast. 18mbps with 4g. My friend has 20 mbps cable internet at his house and we did a speed test and my phone was the same speed as his quad core pc on his 20 mbps cable.

  10. Just got the update last night.  A few things I noticed right out of the gate:

    1. It seems much snappier.
    2. Maybe its just my imagination but the touch screen isn’t quite as sensitive – this is a good thing.
    3. Stability seems better but its too early to really know for sure.
    4. Visual voice mail appears to work better – more stable.

Performance,  stability and fixing the overly sensitive touch screen appear to be winners for me.

  11. Too many little boys and their ignorant comments on hear. If someone posts something about an issue don’t slam then with name calling it shows your cowardly ways and that’s not mature at all. If you want to piss someone off do it to their face!
