It’s finally time for all the HTC Rezound customers to rejoice and enjoy the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense UI 3.6 for their device. Today Verizon made the update official and it appears to already be rolling out to users. If you’ve been waiting through all the leaks and delays the official update is now available.

HTC posted news of this update themselves well over a month ago, which turned out to be false as that never happened. We’ve seen a few delays, countless leaks of ICS for the Rezound and more. Verizon has just posted the full update details and instructions as usual at their Rezound support page.

Once we see the details from Verizon it usually means the update will coming shortly, but this time around it appears to already be rolling out. The update for the Rezound to Android 4.0 ICS and Sense UI 3.6 is available right this minute, and appears to be about 299MB in size. It might take a minute or two to download, but you should be on your way to the frozen treat in no time.

Multiple reports from XDA Developers have confirmed the update is live, and we are getting countless tips that owners have already accepted the update. As usual this is rolling out in stages, so you should see it over the next 24-48 hours. Users can manually go to settings and check for updates if they’d like to pull it down now. Or hit that XDA link above for the manual download.

Enjoy that Ice Cream Sandwich, Rezound owners, and let us know if you have any issues.

  1. It’s about time. Just downloaded and already love it. Not quite like getting a new phone but enough to hold me over for awhile

  5. Yep. Spent the afternoon at Verizon after their ICS push. Phone gave me the perpetual white screen of death when booting after. Just lovely. Rep couldn’t even do a factory reset. New replacement handset to be overnighted. Fun, fun!

  7. yea mine is slow too, lots of lag between screens, especially when closing, theres a bug when you enable the phone to kill apps when you close them, it says destroy, under developer options > dont keep activities. that puts my phone is white screen limbo for a good 30 secs after each close out.. also, THERE ARE NO POWER OPTIONS!!! cant go from high performance to economy, i used that a lot!!! still finding more quirks, folders are better like iOS, hold the home button puts up a recent apps screen, nice touch. more to come hopefully! maybe they just pushed this out to shut us rezound owners up about the OTA update date lol

  8. Did the 7.1MB update, than downloaded the full update. Installing it now. Just hope it doesn’t brick my phone…

But I’m looking forward to seeing if it was worth the wait.

  9. great,I just realized I have no DIALER. I am missing the phone icon. I can only call my contacts and since I have no other phone, tech support can’t help. ANy ideas? I tried removing the SIM card and restarting but did nothing. Is there a way to reinstall the update without a factory reset? Hate to lose everything and have to start over.

    • I had the same problem, you have to add a shortcut back to your desktop. There is a grey bar at the bottom of the screen that you can drag it onto so it will be there no matter what home screen you are on.

I know that threw me off too when I upgraded, you would think that google would have put it there by default.

  10. I don’t know about everyone else but my Rezound is working great with the ICS update. I love the new features the update brought, chrome browser is awesome, and my battery lasts probably three times as long now. The update is working out great for my phone.

    • mine is working great now too. had a problem getting the contact photos to show up in the phone book, but i got that all straightened out and it’s working great. like your’s my battery seems to last a good bit longer.

  11. I got it today, and for some reason I no longer have 4G connectivity. I’m back at 3G even though 4G is in my area. Anyone know anything about this?

  12. downloaded the update today! i am having the same problem as the previous post with the gps. every time i start it up it shuts down. i cannot text anyone, the thread will not load at all and the keyboard will not show up. when people call i cant see who is calling or pick up. i am not a huge fan at this point 🙁

  13. My phone keeps resetting when i try to use google maps. And I dont know if it’s related, but my phone when in 4g network is very unstable. It seems like I the connection is constantly timing out.

  14. WORST thing I could have done to my phone! Worked fine before update. Now always searching for 4G. Sometimes resets phone. Because it’s searching, battery life is shortened. Rename it “Ice Cream Garbage”!
