As the HTC One slowly makes its way into the US, questions have been raised about its upgrade path to the latest Android release. HTC President Jason Mackenzie has cast away all doubts, revealing on Twitter that the company is working to deliver Android 4.3 to HTC One users in the US and Canada by the end of September.

Announced last February, the HTC One sports a 4.7-inch 1080p full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, and a 2300 mAh battery. It is definitely not brand new but it still has to land into the hands of the public in the US. Just last week, C Spire Wireless had made the One available from its online and retail stores. Verizon has also just confirmed that it will be available from the carrier starting August 22.

In the meantime, the Android world has continued to revolve, with Google announcing the latest Android incarnation last July. Understandably, users are quite anxious to get it running on their new devices. And, according to Mackenzie, HTC One owners in the US and Canada soon will, hopefully by the end of September. The update still has to pass certification though, so there’s no telling when it will actually arrive on users’ phones.

The HTC One won’t be alone in getting the update. Mackenzie also mentions that the HTC Droid DNA will likewise go through a similar process to get Android 4.3. Last week, he also reassured owners of the HTC One Developer Edition, which shipped with Android 4.1, will get upgraded to Android 4.3 as well, completely skipping the 4.2 version.
