The HTC One Max phablet is coming, and it is coming soon. It’s no secret at this point that HTC has a large 5.9-inch smartphone in the works to take on the bigger competition, but one question has been whether or not we’ll get a stylus with it. For some it doesn’t matter, for other Galaxy Note and Note II users a stylus is critical. And now our latest leaked image could be hiding exactly that.
This afternoon we got another look at the HTC One Max smartphone out and in the wild. The hardware and all, instead of just a leaked “non-final artwork” render of what it could look like. While most sites (us included) focused on the fingerprint scanner on back, or the possibility of POGO pins for a dock on the bottom right, one other thing stood out.
There’s a lot of things at play here, but just like the Galaxy Note II and upcoming Note III, the HTC One Max could have a built-in stylus to take full advantage of that massive 5.9-inch 1080p HD display. HTC’s no strangers to the stylus from their Windows Mobile and HTC Flyer days, so it’s a possibility. If you look at the bottom corner of the HTC One Max (T6) in the image, you can clearly see an area this leakster decided to blur out. The blur is on the bottom edge, right where a stylus would slide out of the bottom of the chassis, similar to the Note II you see below.
Now that’s just a guess, and it really could be anything. From a previous sites watermark being blurred out in the leak, a serial number of some sort to hide the leaksters identity, or a few other things. This also is right around where the charging port is, so take this all with a grain of salt. However, HTC needs to be able to compete with the Galaxy Note lineup if they want this massive phone to be successful, and for many a stylus is a huge part of the buying decision.
We’ve seen no reports that a stylus will be embedded, but it’s possible. Rumors suggest HTC could unveil the new One Max in September, and release it later this year, so we’ll be sure and keep our eyes open for more details. Dear lord! My 5.5 in screen is just right….cant imagine anything bigger than a 5.7 not looking ridiculous. Otherwise excited for the One Max
Ever heard of a bluetooth headset? Most places it’s the law to drive hands free. Anyway, people said the same thing about 5.5 inch being absurd and here we are. If you carry a tablet, kindle, any kind of reader or a purse then 7″ is not to big. I would like 7″ and a monster battery. My carrier uses SIM cards so I just toss the card into my 4.3″ Sensation if I’m going out to dinner. Otherwise give me a monster screen!
Love the fact that HTC listens to its core fans, Samsung caters to those that think they have a choice but really don’t because advertising fools them…
HTC might not be as popular, but again, why would anyone wanna own something that every third person has? Where is the uniqueness?

You just described apple and how HTC has copied them. Samsung listens to their customers and allows storage and battery access.
I don’t know if a removable battery is what really matters to me. All the PDAs I v used ever since WINDOWS CE was running on the TOSHIBA AUDIOVOX had built in batteries etc..
As for copying APPLE… SAMSUNG takes the cake for that shit… those butt pirates…

I would jump back to HTC in a heartbeat if they would just go back to removable batteries. I have a Note 2 and carry a spare battery. Only use it about once a month, but when I need it, I NEED it.
Htc one battery can last up to a 2 days with moderate use… heavy use it still lasts a full 17 hours
Not really… playing Ingress (which I would regard as heavy usage) you get 3 to 4 hours max.
Admittedly that game is a massive hog due to its GPS usage, but Samsung at least have the option to swap out batteries. Also when you get to the far end of your 2 year plan, the life suffers significantly and you can’t easily change to a fresh battery.
Is no one noticing the dent on the very top of the Max? That’s what I thought the article was about at first because THAT looks like a holder for a stylus. The other two phones don’t have that dent. Do you guys agree or is it something obvious like a LED light or something?
