HTC One M7 Developer, Unlocked edition can now taste Lollipop

February 6, 2015

We knew that the HTC One M7 will be receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update but didn't know when exactly. A couple of weeks back, the HTC One M7 Sense 6 got a taste of Lollipop. This week, another version for Unlocked and Developer edition owners of the One M7 has been released. This news came from HTC's Vice-President for Product Management himself, Mo Versi.

HTC confirmed that the OTA (over-the-air) software update is ready so if you own an HTC One M7, expect to receive a notification to download the new version soon. No other information has been given but a change log should surface anytime soon.

Sadly, HTC won't be able to stay within the 90 day update deadline to release Lollipop for the One (M8) and One (M7). We don't have enough information which mobile network will carry out the Android 5.0 software update first.

It's sibling, the HTC One M8, or at least subscribers from Rogers and Telus, have recently received the OTA. Photos of the HTC One (M9) has been leaked, giving us an idea how beautiful the next flagship smartphone is. We saw its golden brushed metal casing but didn't catch if it will run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. What do you think?
