HTC Lock Screen gets Material Design, new features

If you have an HTC device, then you must have been happy when sometime last year, they launched an app on Google Play Store that was just previously available for the newer smartphones like the HTC One M8. The HTC Lock Screen is pretty useful for those who are tired of constantly unlocking and then locking their phones, as it enables you to still access certain functions and features even without unlocking your device. A new update to the app brings even more useful features, particularly if you love to travel and go around places.

But before anything else, the update has made your app notifications look different, because it now sports the Material Design and style, as befits an Android 5.0 Lollipop smartphone (hopefully, yours is one already). If you like discovering new places to eat in, either around your neighborhood or if you’re visiting a new place, mealtime recommendations will pop up on your locked screen, as well as Yelp reviews of the establishments around you. If you use Blinkfeed, HTC’s proprietary homescreen, then you’ll also get notifications and updates through the Lock Screen app.

When you’re listening to your favorite music and your HTC is on locked screen, then you’ll know be able to see the album artwork in full screen mode (which is always a nice thing for music aficionados). The updated app also now shows some useful information, like the weather in your area, what time the sun is expected to rise and set, travel weather clock which allows you to check what time it is back home when you’re away, plus other “relevant daily information”.
