This is not the first time we have heard about Jelly Bean coming for the HTC EVO 4G LTE, however as of now, it is looking like the update should begin rolling-out today. The details have yet to be officially confirmed, however a leaked page coming out of the Playbook has the update beginning today, December 13.

The one catch with that, the December 13 availability is user initiated, which simply means that you will need to venture into the settings and check for the update manually. Otherwise, those wiling to sit back and wait for the update notification to arrive — you have a bit of a wait. Well, a few weeks anyway. According to that same leaked page, the OTA network push will begin the week of January 3.

Otherwise, the update will be arriving as software version 3.15.651.16 and as Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+. Some of the goodies that you can expect include Google Now, improved notifications and the smoothness from Project Butter.

The changelog for the update also notes the following; improvements to the camera and gallery, improvements to Wi-Fi authentication and improvements to Calendar reminders. Finally, some of the fixes include issues dealing with personalized ringtones and a fix for those using links to go from a description in the calendar to the phone app.
