There has been a little confusion regarding the Droid Incredible and if it would actually get updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread over the past few days. An email from a rep originally said the Incredible was currently not on the list of devices getting upgraded and that caused many to question what was going on. An Email was quickly sent out stating that the Incredible was in fact going to get Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread to clear up any confusion. It appears they might have already had it ready to rock because we are seeing it hit devices already.

When we first heard the Droid Incredible wouldn’t receive Gingerbread as it would not give the device an “overall improved user experience” we were shocked and not sure what to think. No need to worry because the update is rolling out now, or has at least started a “soak test” and should be coming sometime shortly. Just like most Verizon updates, the carrier has listed a support document going over all the details on their site over at the Incredible Support Page.

While the update wont change much users will get boosted to the latest Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and receive a slew of bug fixes specific to the device such as MMS improvements and more. Users will be able to take photos without an SD card now as well with the internal storage. Nothing too special here but it should be plenty fast and stable when it finally gets those ginger flavors. Still no news on the Thunderbolt update sadly, so you guys will have to keep waiting.

  1. Updated today, 9/8/11,and found after update that several of my downloaded apps have disappeared. They have also disappeaed from my Android market account. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions on how to correct or remove the update?

    • Yes..I also had this problem. I have an HTC Incredible, and updated also on Sept 8, and like you lost a number of apps from the phone after updating, including a voice recorder where I had quite a few things recorded, some of which hadn’t been backed up yet.  Of course, the update does warn to back up data, and I forgot about the voice recorder, so I consider the loss of the recordings my own fault, but some of those apps lost were ones that had been paid for, and used often.

  2. I got this update and I now have a Low on space warning, when I have plenty of space. I also can not sync anything…yahoo contacts, gmail, google calendar, FB….
I hope they fix it soon!

  6. I’ve got an incredible and recieved the 2.3.4 update about 2 weeks ago.  I love it.  It’s a somewhat updated interface and all of my apps work great.  Noticed the comment about someone losing his voice recorder.  Mine is still there and works fine.  For some strange reason, my wife and two kids have same phone and they’re still stuck on 2.2.
