The HTC Butterly 3 was leaked way back in April. We have no idea why it took HTC so long to launch the smartphone but we're glad that it's here. It's a high-end phone just like last year's Butterfly 2. Don't be surprised though if it looks eerily like the HTC Butterfly J in Japan because it's actually one and the same.
We know why the phone has a different name in Japan--people just want new stuff all the time. Like Sony, HTC just decided to rebrand a current model and call it by a new model name. Available since May in Japan, the HTC Butterly 3 boasts of the following specs: 5.2-inch QHD LCD display, 3GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage, microSD card slot for expansion, 20.2 megapixel main camera with Sapphire crystal lens and dual-tone dual-LED flash, 4K video recording capability, a 13MP front-facing camera with BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture, and a 2700mAh battery.
If you're still not impressed with the HTC Butterfly 3, this one is IP57-rated for water and dust protection. It already runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box but is topped with HTC Sense 7. This is no longer a rumor but phone is said to be announced this coming October 20 in Taiwan. We're not certain if this is the one we should be expecting on the 20th since there's also the leaked HTC One A9 and the Snapdragon 820-powered HTC O2. I guess we'll just have to wait and see then.
