About a week ago HTC confirmed the adding of Chief Operating Officer Matthew Costello. More than likely the only other place you’ve ever heard of this man is as the Vice President of Global Operations at Sony Ericsson. Exciting news for HTC! Costello will hold this post over in Taiwan, and will be in charge of manufacturing, sourcing, supply chains, customer service, and technology infrastructure.

This fellow will be reporting to Fred Liu, President of Engineering, Operations, and Sales at the same HTC site. Take a peek below at the full press release:

Taoyuan, Taiwan – December 28, 2010 – HTC Corporation, a global leader in mobile phone innovation and design, today announced the appointment of Matthew Costello as Chief Operating Officer.

Costello will be based in Taiwan and be responsible for all operations at HTC including manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, customer service and technology infrastructure. He will work closely with HTC’s customers and suppliers to ensure the continuous evolution of HTC’s integrated supply chain. Costello will report to Fred Liu, who has been promoted to President of Engineering, Operations and Sales.

“As HTC continues to grow, it is essential for our operations to become even more efficient and sophisticated and Matthew will manage this exciting transition for us,” said Liu. “His long standing experience and reputation as an expert in operations and supply chain will help take HTC to the next level in our growth.”

Prior to joining HTC, Costello held several senior strategic and operational roles in the mobile industry.
