HP has added another Android tablet to the lineup. This latest model is the HP 8 1401 and judging by the specs and price, this is an entry-level tablet and possibly a good option for those shopping with a strict budget in mind. The HP 8 1401 specs include a 7.85-inch display at 1024 x 768 and 1GHz AllWinner A31S quad-core processor.

The tablet is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Other specs include 16GB of storage, microSD card slot, 1GB of RAM, 0.3MP front-facing camera, 2MP fixed focus rear-facing camera and a 3800 mAh battery that is said to be able to offer up to 7 hours of run time. As well, the basics such as WiFi, an accelerometer, gyroscope and microUSB can all be expected.

Remaining goodies include a pair of speakers on the back with measurements of 200.3 x 136.3 x 7.95mm and a weight of 0.69 pounds. While the specs aren’t anything to get overly excited about, we do have that price to remember. HP has the ‘8 1401’ tablet selling for $169.99.

Of course, if price is your main concern, HP may have something else to offer. The HP Slate 7 Plus remains available and is currently priced at $149.99. The Slate 7 Plus is also running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but otherwise, has a 7-inch 1280 x 800 display, NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot for expansion.
