Google Docs and Classroom 1

Students, how was you summer break? I’m not sure if there are students reading this site but, at least, there are parents who are interested to know what new stuff they serve their kids to help them in school. If not parents, we’re guessing teachers who want to make use of technology to the fullest. Good news—Google has recently updated the Google Docs program by adding new tools and improving several features.

If you’re a frequent user of Google Docs for work or school, you’d be happy to know that writing documents is easier because you can search Google without having to go out of Docs for Android. The Research tool allows you to search for images, facts, or quotes to use on your paper or thesis. There’s also the Voice typing feature that allows you to “type” without touching the keyboard simply by “speaking” to your mobile device or computer.

If you’re in Chrome, you can activate this Voice typing feature in the Tools menu. You can also use any of the more than 40 languages available. When it comes to editing documents, Google can also save and keep track who did the last few changes or what has changed. This way, you can know where to start again especially when you’re collaborating on a document with your peers.

Google has also added the Explore in Sheets feature so you can easily and quickly make charts from the data you have. This way, your audience can visually understand what you want to say.

You can make use of ‘Forms’ so you can get the information and data you need. It’s a neat way to do surveys so no need for long e-mail conversations because your contacts would only need to send their responses. And for those who want to make easy presentations and newsletters, Google added more templates in Docs, Sheets and Slides. No need to worry about the design of your document because you can just choose from the collection then insert the content or data you want to present.

Those using Classroom will find some changes like the new ‘Share to Classroom Chrome extension’. This allows the teacher to share a website with his class easily.
