Google to expand Android Market payment choices

16 July 2009 by Shane McGlaun

One of the biggest barriers that prevents many mobile phone users from buying apps for their devices is the lack of payment options. Blackberry is the worst with the only payment option being PayPal. I hope they get enough from PayPal to make up for the sales missed.

Google has announced that it is adding new payment options to the Android Market for users. A coming update will now offer support for multiple billing systems. The biggest feature of the update is that it will allow users to buy applications and charge them to their monthly service bill.

That is a huge feature to be able to charge apps to a monthly service bill and will make it easy for everyone to purchase apps for Android devices. The addition of direct billing by T-Mobile users can also forgo the Google Checkout signup process.

  1. This might be dangerous for me. There goes my phone bill
  2. Ha Ha..

They already added $1.21 to my Bill (without telling me) for a *Regulatory Programs Fee

Along with the $1.75 for the *Federal Universal Fund <-- what in the world is this & that ?

    SMH!
  3. i actually like the idea, i have mentioned this before.
  4. This is great. I wonder if they will allow someone to just enter CC information on the spot.. Also, (my opinion), Robo defense (the game pictured above) is the best on the market. Totally worth paying for.. try the lite version first and get a feel for it!
  5. I may have missed it but when is this going to be implemented? Perhaps one of the donut features?
  6. about dang time, been asking about this a while back....

  8. Will the be giving Canadians the option to buy apps?
  9. Hopefully this will allow countries that are unsupported by GoogleCheckout to purchase apps. Like Canada.
  10. I want to be able to SELL apps on the store from Australia.
