As part of its app update spree, Google has also pushed an update for its Google Search app on Android. While the update doesn’t have much to offer in terms of search itself, it does have a few niceties for features related to Google Now, which is packaged in the Search app.

Users in the UK and Canada definitely have something particularly for them in this update. Now they will be able to use the “OK, Google” hotword to activate Google Now using their own English locale. Support for hotword activation depends on Google Search’s language settings and not all variants of the English language are actually supported.

But even non-English speaking users are also in for a treat. Those who speak French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish can now make use of Google Now’s intelligent reminders features in their own languages.

Google Search has also introduced a few new strings of text for its time-to-leave notification system and have made those customizable. While these new features may sound quite desirable, they are unfortunately only available for users running Android 4.1 or higher.
