Have you ever been at a party where the host is playing music from his or her smartphone and everyone’s having a great time grooving to the music, when suddenly, the music source had to go away and so the music at the party completely stops? Bummer right? Well if you’re using Google Play Music and streaming it through Chromecast, that will not be a problem anymore as the latest update to the app brings better integration between the two.

Google Play Music actually says they have overhauled Chromecast integration and that will lead to gapless playback support. That means there are no more pauses in between songs. Having gaps sometimes kills the mood of the moment, whether you’re at a party or having just a small dinner gathering. And now, even if your phone suddenly goes off or you go away with it, then it will still continue playing the music.

A few months ago, Google Play Music released version 6.0 of the app, almost in time with the release of Apple Music. It introduced a new streaming music tier, aiming to join the long line of similar services like Spotify, Pandora, Rdio, all of whom have free offerings, apart from their paid service. Version 6.0 also brought a new look, with a new splash screen and the app made to look more like their website.

The latest Google Play Music update with its improved Chromecast integration has rolled out already. So if you’ve been using the latter to stream the former, check out if gapless playback is now a thing.
