Google has announced Android 2.0 Eclair, and anyone with any doubts about the platform’s prowess should take a look at the changelist to see just how serious the search giant is.  OS 2.0 brings with it support for multiple simultaneous Google and Exchange accounts, together with quick contact menus for speedier access to different methods of communication.  There’s also a unified email inbox and SMS/MMS search.

The camera now has native flash and digital zoom support, together with white balance, color effects and macro focus.  HTML5 support has been added to the browser, together with double-tap-to-zoom, and there are now thumbnails in the bookmarks pane.

It’s possible to set the SMS/MMS inbox to automatically delete old messages once it reaches a preset size, and there’s support for Bluetooth 2.1 and the OPP and PBAP profiles.  We’re expecting to see Android 2.0 appear with a flourish on the Verizon Droid by Motorola tomorrow.

  6. This is the only reason whey I went back to Andorid I love Blackberry but, after seeing the screen shots of this on Boy Genius i went back to my MT3G and i cant wait. Eclair will make android the number 1 if not the best OS from now on. Sorry Iphone but Android is gonna take your thunder ( i like apple so I dont need any stupid comments about what I said thanks)
  7. Sweet jesus...This better port to the G1 and not just that Verizon Motorola "ehh". Still waiting on the ability to save apps to the SD card for us non rooted users too! I'm sure we are ALL quite aware of the security issue that it presents but still...why come up with an EPIC OS that allows developers to make even MORE awesome apps if most consumers cant even save their apps to their SD cards???
