You probably are used to using Waze or other similar apps to navigate your way through an unfamiliar place, but remember, your first love was probably Google Maps. And even though crowd-sourced navigation apps have captured our hearts lately, Google is actually bringing a lot of improvements to the app almost every week and it should be able to not just help you navigate but also keep track of the places you go to, the restaurants you eat at, etc. Version 9.20 helps you do all that a little easier.

If you didn’t know yet that you can actually post reviews of places you’ve been to on Google Maps, now is the time to actually do so. The latest update gives you the ability to add pictures to your review so that those who would not want to read your 1,000 word review can at least have a visual representation of your experience. You can also now toggle the turn by turn voice navigation when you get a voice call so as not to interrupt your conversation with the constant turn left or turn right instructions.

You also get better navigation signage in this update as it will not just show you the lines you’re supposed to turn on to but the street names and exits are actually now shown, instead of just being at the top of the screen. And if you rely on the Timeline feature to double check where you have been, it now has an “add a place” on the overflow menu, in case there are places that weren’t included for one reason or another.

Google probably hasn’t pushed the update yet to your Maps app, but you can download the APK already, signed by Google and install it already so that you can enjoy all these new features.
