This week Google fixed a couple DoS bugs in Android. The bugs were a couple of security flaws that would enable hackers to launch a denial of service attack on the user’s smartphone.

The flaws that allowed the attacks are part of Android version 1.5. The more serious of the two patches fixed a flaw that had to do with vulnerabilities in the way Android handled SMS messages.

Hackers could use the vulnerability to force a phone to disconnect from the carrier network. It’s good to see Google patch security flaws for its OS, which is rapidly growing in popularity.
