For those that use Google Drive on the daily the Android team just announced a brand new update that I’m sure many will be happy to hear about. Full spreadsheet editing has arrived for Google Drive, and the folks from Google have detailed it all on their blog. You’ll now be able to edit and tweak just about everything on the go with your Android smartphones and tablet. More details after the break.

Just like through the browser how many current Google Drive Docs users have been enjoying for a while, this update allows you to switch fonts and colos, re-size layouts, and filter through or sort data all with ease. Also just like the browser, you’ll be able to watch these updates live as they happen. This brings collaboration to a whole new level on Android. Here’s the full list:

– Edit Google spreadsheets in new native editor
– Edit contents of tables in Google Docs editor
– Formatting is maintained when copy/pasting within Google Docs
– Single tap to enter edit mode in Google Docs editor
– Add a shortcut to Drive files/folders to your homescreen for quick access
– Send Link now supports copying link to clipboard

Basically users will be able to create, edit, and tweak anything and everything just as you can on the PC and desktop experience, only on mobile. Google’s been working hard to bring their awesome desktop experiences to mobile. They’ve improved Google+, working hard to bring their Chrome Browser for Android closer to the desktop experience, and now Drive is getting the same treatment.

Most of these features have been available for some time, but the business and mobile professionals have been asking for and waiting for this update for far too long. It’s great to see Google finally delivering such a timely and feature filled improvement. All the text format fixes, shortcut options and more really makes this a great update. More details can be found on the Google Blog link above, or head to the Play Store and get it today.
