Android Market Support has been sending out a few emails today regarding a little service outage that is planned for later today. According to the email Google Checkout will be down today for a scheduled system maintenance. It will be unavailable starting at 4:00PM Pacific Time until 5:00PM PT. So approximately an hour or so from what we are hearing. How does this impact you — you wont be able to purchase apps in the Android Market through Google Checkout while the service is down.

Not the biggest deal and its only for an hour, but if you were planning any large purchased or anything in general you should probably go ahead and do that now, or just wait til they are done with the maintenance. Users should still be able to buy apps and choose the “Bill by Carrier” option and just add it to your monthly payment on T-Mobile or what not so I don’t see this being much of an issue unless that is down also.

Either way we figured you’d all like to know, you never know when someone is planning to go wild on the Android Market and spend their entire paycheck on games and apps so it is better safe than sorry right? Here is the email for those wondering

Hello,

We’re writing to inform you about a planned service outage impacting Android Market that requires your attention.

On Wednesday, June 15th, Google Checkout will be unavailable from approximately 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. PDT due to planned system maintenance. During this time, you will be unable to sign in to your Merchant accounts (http://checkout.google.com) and transactions will not be processed. The Android Market Developer Console (http://market.android.com/publish/) will still be available.

During the outage, users will still be able to view paid applications on Android Market; however, any attempts at purchases will fail. No new orders will be created. After the maintenance has been completed, all normal activity will resume. No action is required on your part.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Regards,
The Android Market Team
