One of the more lesser promoted but still significant Google apps (well, significant for those who are interested in the subject matters) is the Arts & Culture, which has both a website and mobile apps. Just like museums and artworks in real life, it needs a retouch and even a renovation every now and then. And now, their digital touch-up is now complete and the updated digital properties have been unveiled for the public, and they come with pretty nifty new features.

The Google Cultural Institute has created this website and app in order to bring as much art and culture to whomever would want to view it and from wherever they are in the world. It’s a good tool for art classes and cultural connoisseurs. The updated new tools will now make it easier for you to search and discover works and artifacts from the ancient eras to the most post-modern works of art. You will also be able to scroll through these artworks by time and see how they evolved. You will also be able to browse through them by color if that’s your thing. To discover things you normally wouldn’t know or find out, you’ll also get a new story every day that will add to your knowledge about arts and culture.

And now that virtual reality headsets are becoming more prevalent, you’ll be able to explore several museums and paintings and cultural exhibits in 360 degrees. In case you’ll get the chance to actually see them in real life, there will now be a “visit” button on a museum’s page so you can see all the relevant information for when you actually visit it in person.

The Art Recognizer is also a new feature, now only applicable for London’sDulwich Picture Gallery, Sydney’s Art Gallery of New South Wales and the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. Just open the app and point your phone at any painting in those museums and you can get more information about it through Google Arts & Culture. So update the app now to go on a richer art and culture virtual journey.
