The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge received the Good Lock lockscreen as an exclusive app last week. It offers easier customization on the lock screen itself. It doesn’t just provide shortcuts or widgets, Good Lock allows you to personalize the look of the notification so it would look closer to a theme or interface coming from Android. And as with most lockscreen apps, Good Lock adds numerous improvements to the lock screen or notifications area.

Good Lock allows quicker access to some of your frequently used apps. It’s been out for only a few weeks but Samsung has just rolled out an update including important bug fixes on the SD card and recents menu. The constant location prompt that would usually pop has been fixed as well. New features have been added by Samsung including charging recognition, swipe gestures to delete in the recents menu, brightness bar you can now find in the Quick panel, and a mute status bar indicator.

The updated Good Lock will probably make it as your new favorite lock screen and UI layout. We’re guessing the TouchWiz may be going this direction and Samsung could just be doing this as an experiment. We’ll never know the South Korean giant’s plan for its custom UI but Good Lock is certainly a nice-looking app that’s organized and easy to navigate and customize.

  1. Heads up, Good Lock also works on the Galaxy S6 when updated with 6.0.1 (at least on the Verizon version). Combined with the Google Now Launcher, you just might forget TouchWiz exists! Try it out!
