Whenever there are rumored new smartphones from any of the OEMs, one sure sign that they aren’t just rumors but may in fact be near the horizon is the appearance of model numbers on benchmarking site GFXBench. Two new Sony device model numbers have recently showed up, which may indicate that the rumored lower mid-range smartphones may be nearing its official announcement date. Either (or both) of the Sony F3216 and/or F3311 models may be the rumored Xperia C series successor.

Based on the specs that showed up on GFXBench, the Sony F3216 may just be the rumored 6-inch 2016 follow-up to the C series with its front-facing flash. One spec of this model that stood out is the presence of a 16MP front-facing camera, and that kind of a “selfie” camera would probably need a flash too. However, while the previous rumors put the device at 6-inches, this one has a 4.6-inch 1080p display. It will be powered by a 1.9GHz octa-core processor and a MediaTek Helio P10 processor. It has 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and a 21MP main camera.

Meanwhile, the F3311 model also has a 4.6-inch display, but with a lower screen resolution at 720p. Its processor is also relatively lower, with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a MediaTek MT6735 chipset. It only has a 1.5GB RAM, a 16GB internal storage just like theo there one, a 13MP main camera and a lowly (well, lowly compared to the other one).

Both devices will have Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, despite being on the lower range mid-tier level. Let’s wait for further announcements to see if these GFXBench is actually pretty accurate, and based on the track record, it is.
