There is still no official word from Samsung if they will be releasing an Active variant for their new flagship, the Galaxy S7, just like they did with last year’s Galaxy S6. But it looks like someone has spotted that there is a listing for a Galaxy S7 Active in the changelog for the Samsung Level app, an app that gives additional features when connected to a Samsung Level Bluetooth Device. This has now been removed, but as with everything, the Internet never forgets.

The reason why there has been an Active variant for the past two flagships is that there needed to be a more rugged, dust and water proof version for those who have an active lifestyle. The soon to be available Galaxy S7 is already water and dust resistant, so some said there may not be an active version. But based on leaks and rumors, there might still be one.

Of course it will have better, rugged features like military grade protection (MIL-STD-810G) that will save your smartphone from physical drops, particles, and other things that might happen when you’re doing your active things. It may also have a different, more rugged design and may also have a bigger battery capacity than the actual flagship device.

Now whether that was just an honest mistake by the person who was doing the changelog for the Galaxy S7 Active or it is something that wasn’t supposed to be included yet or it was a calculated leak, we still won’t know.
