Galaxy Nexus gets ClockworkMod Recovery with on-screen touch controls

This shouldn’t really come as a huge surprise to most folks and I’ve been wanting something like this for a while now. Being able to control my recovery with the Nexus One ball or myTouch 4G trackpad it was only a matter of time before someone made on-screen touch controls like Ice Cream Sandwich. That is exactly what we have here — ClockworkMod Recovery Touch Alpha.

Thanks to Nathan Grebowiec and his post over on Google+ we now have the popular CWM Recovery with full touch control navigation. Using the built-in controls of Ice Cream Sandwich he’s modified an up and down arrow, as well as back and enter as shown in the image and video sample below.

For those wondering you still have full access and use of the hardware navigation (volume up/down) as well as the option to fully use on-screen controls to navigate through the recovery and flash ROM’s or Nandroids and all those other things we love about Android. Nathan mentions this is still very much a work in progress (given the alpha 1 name) and that he’ll be updating with more features soon. There appears to be a few bugs and weird screen flashes but the initial response seems to be that this works great.

It was built using the stock CWM v5.5.0.4 and should not cause any issues with backups or restores. From the comments on G+ it appears to be working great. For those needing to root first check out our guide below, then give this a try and let us know what you think. Great work Nathan, keep it up!
