For T-Mobile’s G1, there will be a bundle of G1 accessories online to select from; everything from Backup Batteries to Car Accessories, Chargers, Cables, Headphones, Cradles, Bluetooth Accessories, and more. The list goes on and on, but basically the primary purposes of any G1 accessories are to add functionality, such as where you can use it and what you can use it with, make some features easier to use, and extend the use of the G1 Android phone.
G1 External Backup Battery Accessories
Even though the T-Mobile G1 is expected to have good battery life, it’s still good to have one or two spare batteries when you do need it.
G1 Car mount Accessories
G1 car accessories generally include car chargers, G1 holders, and G1 FM Transmitters. Car chargers generally plug into your car’s power adapter port; sometimes car chargers and FM transmitters are combined into one device. FM transmitters broadcast the music from your G1 to your FM radio, they either plugs into the headphone jack or the dock connector, if they are combined with the car charger, and they usually plug into the dock connector. G1 holders are stands that are somehow affixed to your car, usually with a suction cup, and they firmly grip your G1 so you can use it, navigate the menus, use the maps, etc without having to worry about it sliding all over the place.
G1 Charger Accessories
G1 chargers, the name kind of says it all, they charge your G1’s battery. They come in one of two types, the first is they just have a USB port and plug into the wall and then you use the USB cable that came with your G1 to connect your G1 to the charger. The second is they have a dock connector hardwired into them and then you plug in the charger and connect your G1 directly to it. Either way, it’s simple and performs the basic task of charging your Instinct.
G1 Accessories and Cables
Cables can do many things, mainly associated with how they connect your G1 to another device or port. There are USB cables they would generally have a dock connector on one end and a USB termination on the other. Most of the other cables somehow connect your G1 to either an audio or video device or a combination of the two. These can connect either via dock connector, or more likely, via the headphone jack.
G1 Headphone Accessories
Headphones are the primary method for listening to music from your Instinct, and with an in-line microphone can also be used for phone calls. There are in-ear ear buds, on-ear headphones that just rest on your ear or around-ear headphones that form some sort of suction around your ear.
G1 Cradle Accessories
Cradles can do many things, ranging from charging your G1 and syncing it to your PC all the way to instantly connecting your G1 to your entire home theater system. Your G1 may have came with a cradle that can do most of that, but if you need an extra, say a spare for your office, or on the likely occasion your computer and home theater aren’t in the same room, you can buy an extra cradle.
G1 Bluetooth Accessories
Man Bluetooth accessories will work with the G1, for hands-free talking. You’ll be able make calls while walking or just simply to lazy to hold the G1 for the duration of the call or especially when you’re driving in your car. The latter is a great option if you aren’t a big fan of Bluetooth headsets but want hands-free functionality while you are driving.
