Continuing with their usual weekend-sharing of Adam news and teasers, Notion Ink has released a few software and hardware details of the much anticipated device along with the boot screen animation and another trailer.

This weekend Notion Ink detailed the screen that will be found on the device. It will, in fact, be a matte-finish display that will be extremely scratch resistant. They have spent quite a bit of time making sure to avoid the color fringing that can be apparent when you’re not using a glossy screen.

Coming in with some software news, we are told that the Adam is designed to function as a standalone device. This means, that unlike the iPad, you will not need to regularly sync to get content on the device. This is all made possible by Notion Ink’s file manager called Sniffer. Using a three panel layout, users can drag and drop content from different locations in the system itself. You can also browse and share data from USB drives, shared network storage or even Bluetooth devices.

Many of their applications have hit beta as well. Notion Ink’s email client, Mail’d has been in testing and brings along many interesting features. Mail’d supports offline messages, missing attachment warnings and even the ability to undo the sending of sent emails.

The GPS application has also hit beta bringing in language support for 43 different languages. But that’s not all the custom applications that have hit beta, along with GPS and Mail’d, Photo Editor and Paint have also began testing in the beta stages of development.

  1. This is the only tablet I have any interest in at all. It might not do well in the market place but it will definitely attract geeks like me.
