Everything should work fine from here on out....it is still an amazing phone without a stupid data plan.

***There is the occasional hiccup (atleast for me) when you turn on wi-fi and it doesnt wanna work, it just shows some numbers in the web address bar (i.e. 128.349232.231 blah blah blah) ...just turn off the wi-fi, turn it back on....and try again it should work...

Need any other advice with a G1 w/o a data plan lemme know

Trust me...it was stressful for me tooo....hard to find answers about your subject with all the data plan fanboys on here....

I dont know if you ever got you answer to your G1 data plan question, BUT:

I know 100% percent YOU CAN USE IT WITHOUT A DATA PLAN. I myself am doing such. All you have to is buy the phone from a Tmobile vendor, you have to buy the data plan with the phone to qualify for the discount...so do it.


So back the main idea...buy the phone...you need the data plan on to activate it through a gmail account. Then after the phone is up and working...call tmobile turn off the data plan (they will basically tell you your an idiot and if you turn off the data plan the phone will be useless, long story short....DONT LISTEN TO THEM, IGNORE EVERYTHING THEY SAY, and go ahead with removing your data plan) Then the data plan will shut off within 24 hours...you will know this because try going on the internet with wi-fi turned off and it shouldnt work.....
