UPDATE: UPS Shipping Thread

I just just back from a local t-mobile store here Austin...they just had a dummy phone. It's a little big then my BB pearl. Man I can't wait.

just spoke with a TMO rep and apparently everyone who has pre-ordered a phone has been calling today. Even the my.tmo site crashed for a couple of hours... The rep read an internal memo for the phone center to tell everyone. It basically asked us to all calm down and if you ordered your phone before Oct 3rd you will get yours by the 22nd. They have not shipped any phones and what you are seeing are the entries in the UPS database for the packages to be picked up at TMO. I would imagine that if you don't see your tracking number at ups and you are supposed to get it on the 22nd the tracking info will be on the ups site by Sat. be patient young grasshopper.

I am going to be somewhat annoyed if the East coasters get the shaft just because we happen to live near the shipping plant. They should have quite frankly done it on a first come first server basis. I pulled the plug on the G1 as soon as the upgrade option was available and would have expected first in first out to be the norm.

ok, I might sound too crazy. but I knew some guys used to work in UPS and they told me when they get boxes, they just through them to the shelves or whatever they call it to decide which one goes where. and they don't really move things super carefully. I'm worried..
What do I do if my package is damaged when it gets here?
cuz I had some packages like that before. once, nothing really happened inside cuz they packed with alot of packing bubble wrappers but the other time, I wasn't so happy about it cuz some of my books got wet in the box.

so, what should I do if the box is damaged? should I send it back? or can I open the box right there and check if everything's ok in front of the delivery guy?

This isn't HTC's first rodeo. They have shipped a few phones before. They are packed accordingly. If you take dropkicking out of the equation, as well as Ace Ventura type moves, the phones are going to be just fine. Seriously.

I ordered my G1 on September 23rd around 4pm. And the reason was because I was at work for the press conference.

I'm in Austin too dude! Which store did you go to?
