    Default Sony PSP?

Anyone here have a Sony PSP? What are your thoughts on it? How good is the Internet connection ... can you view webpages in a browser-like application?

Its funny this question comes up now, I have the original fat PSP from 3 months after the launch how ever long ago that was. Well i never really lost it, but 6 months ago i put it in a spot that i forgot about and found it 2 days ago. So i ended up charging it and loading the newest M33 hacked firmware. It was nice, i had 3.80M33 firmware on it and went to do the network update expecting it to tell me it can not update to the newest, please try installing manually, well the thing downloaded the 5.00 M33 installer then said i did not have the 5.00 firmware would i like to download it now. I hit yes and it did the whole update on its own. It was amazing how far these homebrew programmers take these things.

Anyhow to answer your question, browsing on the PSP is not to bad, but after having touchscreen cell phones with browsers i kept trying to scroll by tapping the screen.(doesn't work heh) But other then not having full Flash support and the lack of memory on the PSP you can browse most sites without an issue. It connects over wifi so its as good as your signal is i guess.

Good answer. You took the words right out of my mouth on that one.

PSP is a nice handheld device imho. Connection is as good as your wifi signal. internet browsing is good but it dies lack memory and flash. I have custom firmware on mine and it's awesome.

But Android will be so much more before long. I'm excited to see what's coming outta the pipe here in the next month or two.
    Cheers,

I love my PSP as well. I have a newer, slim one, got in BLack friday last year. The games are good, the wifi works great. Yeah it lacks flash on the internet, but it a game system for kids. It does what it is supposed to and does it well. I havent' even bothered with custom hacks because I bought it for what it is supposed to be. If you are looking for a handheld game system with good games, it is definatly worth it.

Yeah the PSP was attached to my finger tips for the first few months...then slowly stopped coming with me as much. The game selection sucked then and from a quick look at gamestop and gamecrazy's websites i can tell its not much better now.

If it wasn't for the homebrew community i would of put mine on craigslist within 6 months of buying it. But it has come in very handy for Need For Speed games, movie watching and playing Mike Tyson's PunchOut and all of those old school games! =)

To anyone buying one for the first time, i would highly recommend get familiar with the HomeBrew community and hacked firmwares, get the largest memory stick you can find and learn how to shrink movies to play on the PSP. Cause the PSP games are not as good as they could be!

The problem most people have with the PSP (or iPod Touch) is the how Internet is only available with via WiFi. I can't wait until the day when there is a free Internet signal that stretches for miles...

Anyway, I'm looking at buying either a PSP or an iPod Touch. Which do you think is better?
